FS17 On Mac Catalina, When Opened Screen Turns All Black, Cannot Get Out Of Black Screen Unless You Force Quit.
I am on a Macbook Pro 16" running MacOS Catalina version 10.15.2, When I open FS17 I get a black screen covering my whole screen but I can hear the game audio, I tried everything, settings windowed, reinstalling, etc.

Did you try changing the screen resolution?

Also... On your Macbook, go to systems report button in the About this Mac Window. Go down to "applications" and select it. After a pause, all software will have been evaluated. Click on the last field (64 bit) just to make sure there are no glitches with FS 17 not being recognized as 64 bit (It should be.)

Saw your video, Matt, and I see that you can't even get to the settings window to change the graphic setting. I did a little more research and your graphics card (AMD?) and Catalina may be floundering on FS17. With all the compatibility problems with Catalina, I held back on installing Catalina - but if your notebook is new, you may not have had that choice.
The good things is if you bought FS17 on Steam, you can get a refund because you obviously haven't been able to log 2 hours in game. So I'd spring for a refund and wait and see if Giants or Apple will fix this.

Hey! I know it's a late response.. but I had the same problem, I just had to open the file named 'game.xml' and change the tag <fullscreen> from '<fullscreen>true</fullscreen>' to '<fullscreen>false</fullscreen>'. After that I've had no issues what so ever!

Hope it helps any other luck seekers that can't get the game to open on Mac. :)

Would love to find the game.xml file. Can you point me in the correct direction? Thanks...

You can find it here:
/Library/Application Support/FarmingSimulator2017/game.xml

If you open a Finder window and press 'Go' in the top bar menu, press 'Alt' when the menu is open and Library will appear. Then you'll find it :)

Good luck!
