Lucky me cause I'm just starting out with logging and felt a little lost. Very thorough and informative guide, I like.

Good video! Shows all the basics pf the different gear and how to use it properly.

Logs getting stuck in trailers. This is why there needs to be a dedicated tipper for logs. A simple mod to that green trailer or an option for dropping the door from the bottom instead of the top would do the job.

What pays more the logs or the chips. Chip at the mill or chips in a heater?

I honestly didnt notice at the time mate. on our dedi we do both just for the fun. switch it up every now and then, I do hate the grapple forks for the loaders. its like the logs have been lined with greese, sliding all over the place.

There is a log fork mod that is very good stroll log fork duo stops the sliding. Will have to test the chips/logs differences myself. Will report back here.

I actually show the mod in the video and link the mod in the description. shame there isnt a mod like this for the big wheel loaders.

oh thanks buddy. I think I'm going to try make more videos on "how to do things" in FS, people seem to like them more than the play throughs.

Oh right. I did not look at all of the video because I kind of know the basics but the video had little bits of handy info I did not know!

So I tested chips/log price here's what I found.

I cut a tree into 1m sections using a scorpion and bought all the necessary equipment and saved and quit. I copied that save and renamed each one savegame8/9/10. So what I found is that selling woodchips to the palceable heating plant pays more then selling the 1m logs to the sawmill and the 32000 (just under) litres/units of the wood chips to the sawmill.

The full sized fir tree chipped paid €6332 in heating plant. chips paid €5123 unloaded at the sawmill and the same tree cut to 1m logs paid €1859 unloaded at the sawmill. I also cut another 2 trees with the scorpion and 1 paid €709 not stripped and €631 cut to 12m with the scorpion (edited .xml) I checked this and found out the a fir tree cut to 12m unloaded with a trailer will pay about 5k. Unloaded the tree in the payzone with the scorpion so disregard the low payment. (but good info anyway knowing not to do it!)

So The placeable heating plant is worth buying if you sell it chips. 22 trees that and the chipper will start paying for itself.

Scienced! But still not sure if the market effects the heating plant!

Aside from the market, does the placeable heating plant price fluctuate on it's own?

not too sure mate, but i do know it makes decent money.
