Joystick or Xbox controller
Is there a YouTube or a link for how to set either of these up. I've got a Xbox gathering dust so tempted to try the controller setup (can't afford the siatec) just for a change

It's mapped for an Xbox Pad by default just have to select it in the menu.

I recorded a video for assisting in setting up both a G27 wheel and joystick for FS15. The info would mostly still be applicable for just a joystick in FS17. It may help you.

It maps automatically for Xbox as long as you've successfully got your controller installed on your PC.

Using an xb1 contoller and it is mapped for it. I have been contemplating gettting a steering wheel. Was looking at the saitek but can't see myself paying that much for it. Someone here said logitec bought saitec out and are releasing newer sim contollers soon, so hopefully the saitec stuff goes down in price.

The xbox contoller is fine to use but the stearing can be a little jittery sometimes if the game had a proper sensitivity settings that could fine tune the stearing it would be all good. The deadzone is like .14 I changed that to .20 but it doesn't seem to have changed and I actually had to manually change it in the .xml file. On foot turning sensitivity is way too slow if you could change it to a higher than 200% setting that would be great.

The xbox axis's in the settings need to be clearer too what is what like?

Keybindings .xml

<devices>
<device name="XINPUT_GAMEPAD" id="0_XINPUT_GAMEPAD">
<attributes axis="0" deadzone="0.200000" sensitivity="2.000000"/>
<attributes axis="1" deadzone="0.200000" sensitivity="2.000000"/>
<attributes axis="2" deadzone="0.200000" sensitivity="2.000000"/>
<attributes axis="3" deadzone="0.200000" sensitivity="2.000000"/>
<attributes axis="4" deadzone="0.200000" sensitivity="2.000000"/>
<attributes axis="5" deadzone="0.200000" sensitivity="2.000000"/>
</device>
</devices>

Gonna see if changing sensitivity to 3 will make a difference but back to what axis is what?!

<axis name="AXIS_RUN" category="ONFOOT" key1="KEY_lshift" key2="" device="1" button="" axis="AXIS_6" invert="false" isHalfAxis="true" mouse="" mouseAxis="" key3="" key4="" button1="" button2="" mouseInvert="false" visible="true"/>

Running on xb1 is RT so axis 6 (axis=5) is RT why would you need an axis for the RT? LT=5

<axis name="AXIS_LOOK_UPDOWN_PLAYER" category="ONFOOT" key1="KEY_down" key2="KEY_up" device="1" button="" axis="AXIS_4" invert="false" isHalfAxis="false" mouse="" mouseAxis="" key3="" key4="" button1="" button2="" mouseInvert="false" visible="true"/>
<axis name="AXIS_LOOK_LEFTRIGHT_PLAYER" category="ONFOOT" key1="KEY_right" key2="KEY_left" device="1" button="" axis="AXIS_3" invert="false" isHalfAxis="false" mouse="" mouseAxis="" key3="" key4="" button1="" button2="" mouseInvert="false" visible="true"/>

Axis 3/4 = RS so LS = 1/2 1 being left/right movement.

As I am about to order the collector's edition of FS17 along with the complete farming sim controller pack, I am curious if you have any source for this info?

Not the part about Logitech buying Saitek, but that they are coming out with new controllers.
