There is a mod out there called Jumbo Reck or something that is a Silage roller.... it helps to flatten it out.

Also when dumping the raw mat into the bunker spread it out so it is flat so you can drive over it quicker

Drive over it with a full semi. It gets compacted much faster.

Hawki.... You have to film that!

I bought a JCB wheel loader with teh big silage fork. it makes a great compresser too with the dual frontwheel upgrade.

The JCB wheel loader and fork is a must at the BGP

In FS17 getting good compaction is no longer all about weight.

It is MUCH more about how evenly the pile is spread out. An even spread pile will compress twice as fast as a lumpy uneven pile will...despite how much weight is used.

Some we have been doing on my server, and it helps ALOT....

First, as suggested above, I would strongly suggest getting the Reck Jumbo I mod.
Now, pick one of your tractors and make sure it does ALL the dumping of product intot he bunkers.

This next part requires a bit of testing to get dialed in right, but it is well worth it. You need to figure out what speed will get a nice even dump, from start to finish of the bunker, for the tipper, forage wagon you are using.
For exanple using the largest stock forage wagon (50k capacity) you need to drive 8MPH for the bunkers at BGA.
Once you find the right speed set your Cruise Control to this speed.

If you are using the Reck Jumbo make sure to attach it to the front of the tractor doing the dumping....this way you can smooth the last load dumped as your dumping the current load.

Using this method we have loaded the BGA silos to 500-600k+...and by time it is all in there it is already 70%+ compacted.

Not really.

Bunkers can be compressed better by spreading them than with weight.
And selling silage actually goes faster with conveyors and a leveling blade than with the 10k silage fork.

I spead as I'm dumping, use the wheel loader to finish the compact, use conveyors to load hopper, and use 10k silage forks to feed the conveyor.

Someone told me weighted wheels help. I haven't tried it though.

They do...to an extent.

Alot of people seem to be intent on playing this game as if it was the same as FS15 though....

Spreading the product out evenly in the bunker is just as important as weight in FS17.

Honestly, I think its based on how many wheels are on your vehicle and the level of the pile.

I had a ugly pile on my first clamp batch because I'd tried to use the Leveler tool, and botched it. So I bought wheel weights in hopes of getting more than 1% every three passes. There was no difference that I could see in the numbers.

The wheel loader with dualies on the front however gets noticably better compression. I believe any tractor with quad dualies (or even the one with triples) will be great compression tool. Looking forward to the day I get me that tractor with 12 wheeldrive, whoop!

Well, in any case one thing I can definitely say that works either by speed or just placebo, is to compact each load to 100%. Don't wait till you have 2 million chaff to start compacting. Dump a load, compact, dump another load, compact. Like I said it may just seem faster and in fact be no faster at all, but does that matter?

No sir, compacting as you loaded the silo was always the shortest route, even in 15.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
