Error: Could not init 3D system. Shader Model 3.0 required.

I see many posts about this but the replies aren't helpful for my situation at all. Most people just say you need a newer video card or update the drivers but I have a GTX 1070 and the drivers are current. All other games work fine it's only FS 2017 that does this.

I've tried modifying the game.xml file to use different shaders etc.. to no avail. Anytime I want to play this game I need to re download the latest drivers and reboot my computer at which point it will work until i quit the game and start it again.

Any help would be great thank you.

As chrisben says, it's the shader_cache folder. Wipe it clean and it's all sorted, no use messing around with mods at all for this issue.

Thank you for the input. I'll give it a try. I also found a link to an Nvidia beta driver that is yet to be released that supposedly fixes it. Thanks again!

yes sometimes the newest drivers do get buggered for any number of reasons from nvidia.

i am still using 387.92's from oct last year without problem
