Converting bales back into grass
So I was trying to find an easier way other than having to build a silo to hold the grass out near my sheep Fields. I had the idea to turn everything that I have into bales, my grass that is, I didn't turn it into hay I just left it as grass because I used a forage harvester to collect it.

Now I've already tried a few different things to help me turn it back into grass from a bale. The straw spreader doesn't work with grass, the silage machine doesn't accept grass bales, and as far as I know those are the only two machines that break up hay bales. Can I just go up to and cut those strings on the bale to turn it back into a grass pile? Am I missing something or did I just mess up?

Only made 2 bales so not like I need it back just curious if I can see my plan for sheep food through. Maybe if it's hay it will work? IDK anybody got an idea?

I don't think you can 'cut' your bales in fs17 and turn them back into loose product.

I thought you could put them in the trailer TMR Forage maker, then force unload on ground. I know this used to work but no sure now.

TMR mixers will only accept hay or silage so I think you might be out of luck. Best to buy or lease a wrapper, wrap, sell and try something else.

SeaDog, yes I believe you're right. I was thinking of "busting up" hay (and straw) bales that way.

From what I have read and experienced there is no point to baling grass (not hay) unless you plan to use it same day as it will decay daily.

Not true. You can bale grass and wrap it for silage. It is the most profitable of all the bales.

Sweet thanks all glad to know i can drop it in my feed area. tbh i didn't even think about doing that.
someone needs to make a mod to be able to cut bales back to loose product. Just give me a bale cutter in Misc lmao

yea it should tho right? not like a straw bale is any different from a grass one.

+1 to this. Since I started wrapping bales I'm making money hand over fist. Silage bales are worth 5 grand apiece.

Edit: Make that $5880 per bale.

you can also use a loader to drop them into a bale shredder with the outlet pointed at the ground to make a pile

The Goweil LT Master mod adds this ability.
