I normally use either a frontloader or a wheelloader to place a whole tree in, then go to the end with a skidsteer lift the other end up and walk it in. Once you get the hang of it it's fairly quick.
i would love to see a mod that could do that
You and me both brother! :)
I mean I can feed the chipper by hand or by using the scorpion, but there's so many "misses" that it just gets frustrating more than anything else.. Then I spend a ton of time picking up the pieces that didn't quite make it...
Alternatively, if there was a chipper that feeds from the top instead of a conveyor belt, into which you can drop the wood, that would probably work even better.
There is a chipper like that, look up 'the Beast' for FS17 The Beast chipper[www.farming2015mods.com]
I find the best way is to use the skid steer log forks in a 45 degree angle, like the letter V; each side of the fork is now an inclined wall, keeping the log centered and supported as the machine pulls it in. All you do is keep it supported as if you were an extension of the chipper log tray.
Might not work as well with the smaller tractor log fork but it's worth a try.
