Feeding cows and bedding

Hi.

Been trying to find some info wether you need hay or silage in the TMR or both. I see in the in-game help there's a (,) between, does that mean i need both or just one of the types?

Also for making a bedding using straw for cows, do i really need to invest in a auger wagon or is there another way? Also im using Straw bales if that matters

Bales are 100% pointless unless you need mass-storge of those products. Anything you can use bales for in FS17 you can use loose product to the same effect.

The (,) means either,or....not both.
Persoablly I make all TMR out of:
Silage
Straw
Raw Grass


You do NOT need an auger wagon, or the blower wagon, to provide bedding to the cows. Any tipper or forage wagon that will hold straw will work...just dump itinto their main food bin and it will layer onto the floor for em.

On my server we have a Pickup Truck with small tipper, the Lely Juno 150, and a facilty to mix the TMR. These are the ONLY things we use to keep 200+ cows fed and happy at 100% productivity.

What I do is use the two bin storage shelter at the cows (located beside the silage silo) to dump loose hay and straw. Then I use the mixer vehicle that has a pickup on it to scoop up silage, straw and hay which it combines into power food and then unload into the adjacent feed trough.

I use a modded mixer that has the capcity increased to 33,000 because when you get around 100 cows, they eat a lot.

I also put down a Hay Loft nearby. It stores 250,000 straw and hay. In hindisght I'm not really using the hayloft so I could have saved $90,000 by not buying one.

so you only need tmr too be at 100% no grass and hay???

Cows - TMR + Water + Grass + Straw for 100%
Sheep - Grass/Hay + Water
Pigs- simplest way is pig food bags or Corn / CCM + Soy/Canola + Wheat/Barley + Taters/Beets + Water + Straw

You can either mix with mixer wagon 2 bales silage 1 hay 1 straw or download the mix station from marhu for cow and pig feed or use loose silage,straw and grass and mix with mixer 8000 silage 4000 hay/grass 4000 straw.
