I have just discovered Skid Steers.
I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier, I bought a couple of skid steers, one to keep with the cows and drive over to the shop to load up a pickup and trailer with pallets, and one on a low loader at the farm that I can take to the sheep or pig pens.

Now I'm kicking myself realizing all of the usage hours I spent on $170,000 tractor stacking bales, pallets, and driving between the farm and animal pens, when I could have been using one of these cheap little things along with a pickup truck. Replacement costs are going to be a lot cheaper now.

Oh yeah, they're great for pallet handling. I haven't had one in my own game yet, but have used on a friends multiplayer for these exact reasons.

The only problem is I still have to drive the pickup over to make/deliver power food, at least until I can afford the bigger machine, since the skid steer can't tow.

I use them for cleaning all the time much cheaper!

Could not agree with ya more. They are cheap, and little powerhouses!

We have the little tracked one to support our forestry division. It can get anywhere the Scorpion can go.....hell, it can go alot of places the Scorp can not....it will climb damn near any hill on Goldcrest map.

Does anyone know what the difference between the two is? They seem to have the same horsepower, etc. They just look and cost different.

One is wheeled the other is tracked.

Well I can see that, but does that make any difference in game?

If you use the Giants traction mod (i think thats the mods name) It may. otherwise I dont think so. They may steer differently.

Hmm ok. I would think, and I am no expert mind you, that a tracked vehicle would have more torque. We know that torque is modeled in game because if you try to climb a hill with a heavy load, the tractor can struggle. But without that actual information there is no telling, or even if that torque in game is modeled acurately.

However these don't actually tow anything anyway.

I find that the tracked one is a lot smoother in operation than the wheeled one. With that said, if you use interior view, it's terrible from the tracked one because of the forestry grate over the front window. As a result, I usually buy the wheeled one for the better vision and also because it's cheaper. I use the forestry one for just that because it does move around better in the forested areas to get in tight for stump removal and other operations.

The one with track are ment for foresting. He is covered with a iron cage for protection from falling tree etc in the forest. Dont think that matter in the game tho. But in rl it does :D

The tracked one would theoretically be able to pick up more in real life...I do not know if this is implemented into the game or not.

The tracked version will provide better traction up hills and with a load.
Much the same as wide or double tires on a tractor will provide more traction.

This is modeled with or without Giants traction mod......that has more to do with susppension than actual traction.

I see, well the only hill I need to go up is the one between the cow pasture and the shop. I got a low loader to haul the one between the farm, sheep pasture, and pig pen.

I wish they had a smaller, lighter low loader though, this one is too long and too heavy for the pickup really.
