John Deere will never been in a game other than the one they released many years back.
The do not license the IP to any other game developers.

AAs for Ford they probably would not see product placement in a neiche market game as worth their time...or the licensing would be far to expensive for Giants to consider.

If you look at the mods in-game there is 1 Ford and 2 John Deere's in the beta section.

Thats why Massey Ferguson and New Holland is so much more awesome ;)

As long as we can get good Deere mods then we can always use them ingame. Farming Simulator series will never have them as standard issue.

Ford is now New Holland. So yes, we have Ford :)

(Ford farm equipment was sold to the Fiat group some years back - that's who owns New H.)

All the tractors you see ingame are produced by companies that today are part of either the SAME group (Hürlimann, Deutz-Fahr, SAME, Steyr etc.) and AGCO (Fendt, Massey, Valtra, Challenger etc.). Suppose they have a different stance on free advertising than companies like say John Deere and CLAAS. I'd love to see them both in game, I mean, who wouldn't love to have access to a completely bug free, high quality sound and texture CLAAS Xerion for example? :)

Ford is in game as has been said before thats why people say Ford/New Holland. They are one in the same now.

But I would like to see older tractors and equipment make it in game. If we can have train simulators that have antique steam locomotives why cant we have older tractors in game.

Thats one of the reasons that is keeping me from purchasing this game at the moment is there is nothing in the same era as my two tractors. Not a real deal breaker but theres no reason for me to purchase this game if I cant atleast use something I am familiar with.

Either you can contact John Deere yourself and get them to give Ginats the license, or just download John Deere mods.

But John Deere has their own games, so I don't think they would give the license to a competitor

They might, because FS15 had a Classic Tractor Pack, so I would imagine they would for FS17. Keep your eyes open at the following link in the ModHub http://farming-simulator.com/mods.php?lang=en&country=us

In short time we will see the older equipment being modded in to FS17. We all went through this when FS15 came out and we wanted our old favorites we had in FS11 and FS13 to be available for FS15. Soon they will be offered on Mod sites for FS17. and there will be old family farm maps available too.

Now we're talking!!!

Saw some talk a while back. Not sure how true it is. So say, one aproached the other about putting some JD's in game. JD were asking for too much money so Giants wouldn't pay the licence on them. People also tend to forget Giants are paying a licence fee on each bit of equipment, not the brand its self
Rusty_S Nov 28, 2016 @ 10:31am
Ferrus, one way around the licensing is to take and change the names. That is how Mafia II and Mafia III got away with all their real world cars is they tweaked the look some in a minor way and gave them alterantive names. Thus no license needed to be paid for since they werent 100% exact.

Like ATS did. They call them Deer John
StrikerzRyan Nov 28, 2016 @ 11:59am
While they don't have the license to use Ford's name... they did just add a mod called the "Lizard Road Rage" Now you look at it and tell me that it's not a Mustang without the logos.
