Seasons Mod and economy and animals
Seasons Mod has a supply and demand for sale price of crops. When I have looked at the pricing in the main game window the numbers are not the same as the currect Season prices. Are the season prices a baseline for all the sale points who still retain independant pricing but are relative to that baseline?, Or do all sell points sell at the Season mod price? Any feedback would be great

Also, Season and animals. One can adjust the number of days in a year. Does anyone know if the animal consumption is prorated for the number to days in a Seasons year?

I am getting ready to use Season and was curious if anyone has experience with the above. Thnaks.

Thanks GI. I did read those when i loaded the mod. Last night did a test run and the food did go down but i did not record the amount. I guess I can do a comparison test between vanilla and Seasons, run each one for 1 to 3 days and compare all of the feeds.

Also, i can test sell some goods to see if it uses the ingame price or Season's price.

I know that the modder warned against using a savegame file, I want to use a savegame file (copy of) as I got about 400 hrs into the map and got a good farm going with 1500 pigs, 350 or so cows, and about 250 or sheep and about 1/3 of the land.

Depending on what i choose for year length I will only have a harvest every 12, 24, or 36 days and will want to make sure i have enough land to support the animals, of course i could sell some animals.

Was just curious if any folks have work with animals and seasons and sold goods, etc., so i could get a gauge.

thanks again GI for your time and providing those links.

Seasons does set a harder economy (I'm also on hard mode). Not only for goods sell prices, but also for the missions. The pay out of the missions is greatly reduced and no bonus payout. The mos I've gotten for a mission was around 9k for plowing.

Also, with animals, the only reproduce during certain times of year. Sheep only during the spring. Don't have pigs or cows yet. Also, keep in mind that during the winter, your grass will not grow at all and also revert to the "harvested" stage if not mowed before winter.

On most maps seasons changes the economy quite a bit. There are a few maps where that's not the case. PV17 comes to mind because of the faktory scripts I believe.

If you're looking to transfer your stuff to a savegame with seasons you could always modify the save file to give yourself enough money to rebuy everything you've got. Or just backup the save before installing seasons if you'd rather not.

As for economy I can't really help (just started seasons this week too) but to my knowledge animals do take more food than base (dont know without testing if thats different on different length seasons but my instinct would tell me no..) and the max food given is locked to three days.

I did a test with 9 day Seasons (36/yr) and the animals appear to consume about 1/2 the amount of feeds per day than the vanilla day. I will do the test again for 3 and 6 seasons.

I still have a concern with the economy. I did a test with save game file and with a fresh new game. In both cases I sold wheat at two locactions Bakery and the Goldcrest Pacific Grain. In both case the sale price was the same as the price on vanilla list (ESC menu - Prices/1000l) at around $585/1000liter for each sale and not the price for wheat in the Seasons's Left-Alt-S (economy) chart which had wheat going for around $850/1000l

So the question for me is, where do i sell the crops to get the prices listed in the Season's economy?

Thanks again for all who have responded prior to this post

During the first year, that chart is just simulated as it says on the page linked in one of the above post. It's to give you more of an idea of when to sell. The chart is more accurate after the first year.

the only thing different is the economy wich makes it so much easier at its currents version and yes animals consume half after current version wich needs to be double in all reality, but seasons compinsated that for the reproductive rate, bringing the natural way to do things

Guitarman, I created a duplicate saved game file and my plan was to simply use this copied save file. All the fields have been harvested.

Hmm. . . . are you saying i could start a fresh new game. Save that, then go into career file and adjust the money and then buy the equipment, fields and animals? And i should be okay as i am only changing one entry in the file. If that is true, this might work as I would be working with a fresh game.

Is there a way to get my stored crops back? If not, i could just replant them and build up some crops for the first few years then buy the animals.

i got some 400 hrs into my savegame and would like to keep the sweat equity, and am looking forward to have a bunch of stuff for the seasons mod

One of the Devs indicated the pricing is "fluid" for the first year. It will not collect actual data to use until 1 full year has passed. There is a great thread you should read. Yes it is long, yes it has very good info if you take the time to read it all;

Thanks Marcus, i just want to get a gauge for what i need to do insofar as having enough feed to survive the year. is there enough hay to get in the barn if you will. If got a bunch of stored feed and likely enough fields, but am not sure.

I can always sell some animals.

Thanks for confirming feed numbers.

yeah you will be fine at the numbers of bales you have produced, feed, etc wich at why seasons doesnt rot bales, so anything you produced in baled will not rot, everything thats between seasons and vanilla game isnt different its just spread out into 12 days rather than a vanilla 7 day stretch. wich at seasons gave it a longer time span. so anything you do normally in a regular vanilla game will work normaly, above all else. DO not if the material is loose it will rot.
