first off make a copy of the data directory for safe keeping so one can still play mp.
decide which pickup one wishes to use, krone, new holland or rostselmash or all three it doesn't matter. we'll use nh.
now enter data/vehicles/cutters/newholland and open newHollandPP273.xml in a text editor
look for the line <cutter fruitTypeCategories="pickup" convertedFillTypeCategories="forageHarvester" useWindrowed="true">
and change it to <cutter fruitTypes="grass dryGrass wheat barley" convertedFillTypeCategories="forageHarvester" useWindrowed="true">
save it and jobs done.
now one has a legit chaff cutter.
open the editor and click file.
choose new mod from game...
in the dialogue that opens click the drop arrow next to item
scroll down about 1/3 the three pickups are together, for up 370, easy flow 300 s, and 300fp
select one, click ok. then click ok again.
close the editor.
the working directory is my docs/my fs17 mods/
for this example we'll use the 300fp
go to where you saved the mod.
open the directory and delete everything except for moddesc.xml and newHollandPP273.xml.
open newHollandPP273.xml in a text editor. one needs to make three(3) edits.
change <image>store_newHollandPP273.png</image> to
<image>$data/store/store_newHollandPP273.png</image>
change <filename>newHollandPP273.i3d</filename> to <filename>$data/vehicles/cutters/newHolland/newHollandPP273.i3d</filename>
this takes care of the model.
change <cutter fruitTypeCategories="pickup" convertedFillTypeCategories="forageHarvester" useWindrowed="true"> to
<cutter fruitTypes="grass dryGrass wheat barley" convertedFillTypeCategories="forageHarvester" useWindrowed="true">
save and close.
open moddesc.xml. one needs to add some lines.

and one change.
change <iconFilename>icon.png</iconFilename> to

now zip these two files and drop into one's mod directory.
it will show up in the forage headers at the end identical to the standard one except will also chaff straw.
2) chaff - is small pieces of corn (maize), the whole plant not only the ... corns ...
you harvest it with the machines of the category next to the harvesters.
