Are tracked tractors allowed on the road?
because this is a simualtor, is it realsitic to drive a tractor or combine harvester on the road? Or would it be suitable to have it loaded onto a low-loader?

in Germany, you are allowed to drive the harvester on the road when carrying the cutter on the trailer behind it.
tractors sure are allowed, with fully loaded trailers and a frontloader attached. the farmer has to reach his fields, doesn't he?
not allowed on Autobahn, of course.
there are special traffic signs for disallowance of tractors on specific roads.
I think it's the same for whole EU.

Yeah, but doesn't that only apply to regular wheeled tractors?

I've always thought that the tractors with tracks (such as the MT800E) weren't allowed on roads due to excessive wear to the road surface.

Not really, the tracks are made of rubber, and if anything, would be better than wheels because of how mutch they spread out the weight, which is the main reason for tracks, to keep from compacting the field too mutch. In America, most farm equipment is street legal, as long as it fits in one lane and doesn't pose any extreme safety hazards

fair enough, thank you

Where I live in the US, you can.

It'd be rather problematic for tracked vehicles to not be able to use the road. Tanks are a good example of tracked vehicles that are road legal. Most countries require ex-military tanks to have the tracks replaced with rubber, which more or less is better than putting 8 tires on it in terms of impact to the road and overall spreading of the weight.

So as long as there is not a restriction on farm equipment on x-road(or if it can reach a minimum speed *cough* fasttrac *cough), then you can drive it on there, tracked or not.

Length and width is your real issue. The EU gets butthurt over length, but width doesn't seem to be too big of an issue as long as you have an escort. There's a fair amount of YouTube videos of farmers moving their combines, tracked and wheeled, from one field to another using 5-35 minutes worth of road.

Tracks on the newer equipment are easy in the road surface with exception of wearing off the striping and turning sharply. Steel tracked vehicles are a completely different story.

Rubber tracks are allowed here, many metal ones (particularly older ones) aren't
