courseplay questions.
im relativly new to courseplay, but before i do anything, i watch tutorials on youtube. but they tend to skip over alot of details. here are a few of the issues im having:

#1. can i edit a saved course later? (i have 3 fields side by side, just got a forth, wanna add it to the cultivating route)

#2. i meticulasly drive a field, while recording a route, with the correct setting check, (in this case, field work) and save the course. but later when i set the tractor to run the course, it doesnt back up where its supposed to, doesnt pick up and fold the impliment to travel to the next field, and gets stuck on trees and stuff. i never recorded myself crashing into a tree, so why is it doing it?

#3. directly related to the tree crashing incident, i stop the driver, get it unstuck, and get it back on track, but it wont return to the course where it left, it just wanders around the fields aimlessly.

after seeing all this, i dont see the point of courseplay. i started using it cause i have alot of irregular fields, and auto tractor and ai vehicle extention both suck, never do what they are supposed to do, so i deleted them both. i even recorded a course, following the tutorial instructions, on how to set it to drive from a silo to a dump point and back, using a dedicated transport only road train, and even then it will get all the way to the tipping point, but never stops, dumps the load. it instead tryes to turn around and then crashes into a building. as i said, really dont see the point of courseplay if this is what it does.

LP...When I started courseplay with FS15, MisterMoose was by far the most helpful videos I watched. He does things with good order and explains not just what to do/not do, but also variations and his reasoning behind what he says...which is incredibly helpful. Here's a link to get you started (for FS15, but most hasn't changed): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XgKHB5PNPU&feature=youtu.be

That said, there's a lot to CP that can be harder to grasp.
1) no...and this was frustrating to me too.
2)If you ever go in reverse, you have to tell CP that you are doing so. You cannot record any course that includes reversing UNLESS you switch into reverse mode during that time, and then turn it off when you start going forward. Hopefully I understood your question right.
3)You have options on how to start up, whether at the first waypoint, nearest one, or current. I usually just default to nearest and activate it after getting the tractor started in the right direction myself.

Keep at it, and I'm confident you'll find CP helpful. I've used CP extensively for both FS15 and FS17 and it has helped tremendously in the game. The last time I played, I had one tractor mowing a field and collecting grass, another mowing along the sides of fields and heading towards my sheep to feed them, 5 fields being worked at the same time, and 6 semi's automatically collecting the crops from harvesters and taking the crop to my silos...All while I was manually feeding my cows and starting to mess with slurry and manure.

o yeah, thats another question, why cant i run 2 saved course at once? i did that before, and when i started another saved route, my first one that was running to the store turned around and headed back to where i was. was that a coincidence?

#1 you cannot modify existing saved courses, but you can merge many together. For exemple, you can set to display crossing points ( this includes start and stop points for all the courses recorded) from those crossing points you can start recording another course to extend it and save that new one. After that you can merge the 2 together, and save again the new extended one. That way i usually record 1 course for the main street and put many crosspoint on that course. After that i record short branches from crossing points to fields, sellpoints, farm, bga, etc. That wAy i dont need to record all the streets again and again.
Important to me tion you can modify a course during recording pressing pause buttons, after that you can delete latest waypoints til you correct the errors or add waypoints for tight turns.

#2 the settings of the tractor (ex mode selected or speeds doesnt save with the course. Always the latest settings for that tractor will be displayed, so if you change tasks you might need tonchange modes and sone other things on the panel, the recorded course only save the route.
#3 i tend to think the same as jpdoulos said, you might have to set the course to nearest waypoint instead or first waypoint, that might be the problem..

Hope it helps

There is 2 different way to add 2 courses togehter. The first one is the merging one, if the 2 courses cross eachother and crossing points( or start/stop points) are set near of each other the first course will be cut at that point to merge the second one. At that point, tractor will follow the second course til the end.
Second button is to add a second course at the end of the first one, self explaining ( keep in mind that the tractor will run straight forward from the end of 1st ciurse to the start of the second, no matter of obstacle presence)

#1 saved course is just a text file, for minor adjustments you can edit it in a text editor (if you want to move some waypoints few meters or if you forgot to add a pause waypoint.) apparently some guys made a real editor, they are trying to get it on ModHub, so let's keep our fingers crossed.

There was an editor for FS11/FS13 for which the code was released. I turned it into an FS15 editor which I use myself, adding a load of features in the process, but in the meantime someone else had done the same thing and released their version to the public. It's mentioned here on the forums, and I'm pretty sure there's a download link.

I never released my version because they seem to have gone to a lot of trouble getting it all up and running. I don't even know if cp is out for FS17 yet, but when it is I'll update my editor.

Yes, CP is out for FS17.

Just keep at it and soon you'll be a pro. After I watched all of Mr Moose's videos courseplay videos 2 or 3 times I started getting it .

When you started the savegame, courseplay probably asked you something like "automatically scan fields?" If you clicked yes, you can set courseplay to automatically generate a course for fieldwork. You can also choose the number of headlands and other parameters.

With fieldwork mode selected, go to the tab on the right hand side of the courseplay HUD which looks like a square with lines through it. Select the field number you are working and the working width of the tool, and then click the generate course button.

You can now go to the drive course tab and hit start and it should work.

If I haven't explained this very clearly, there are plenty of YouTube videos if you search for something like "FS17 courseplay fieldwork tutorial".

Don't give up with CP, it's an extremely powerful tool.

i think i have it figured out for the most part. i have 1 field with a round forest clump in the middle, and another with a really wild edge, so i still have to use a manual course when fieldworking, and autocombine when harvesting, but i got it worked out now , for the most part.....

You can drive a course doing the perimeter of the field for uncommon ones or the grass ones not scanned automatically. Save that course as perimeter then use that perimeter course to setup the generated fieldwork ones

My editor is now working with CP17. I just created a new course in the editor, saved it, and it worked fine in the game.

For some reason the XML files in CP17 don't have the standard 'xml' document tag at the beginning. I've allowed for it, but if they appear in a future release I'll just have to tweak the code.

Sounds interesting! Are you willing to share your editor? Any instructions for it to help get started?

Okay, I released a beta version. If you google 'spacejock ycourse17' you can't miss it. I'd recommend backing up your courseplay files before messing around with anything (Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2017\CoursePlay_Courses)
