Why buy bigger than a T8?
With upgraded T8s, I can pull the biggest cultivator at 15-16 kph (max is 17), what's the point of the much larger tractors with 600 horsepower? They cost nearly twice as much in maintenance.

Why buy a lamborghini car when a pinto gets you to the where you need to go?

Personal preference and looks.

the bigger n larger attachments have higher hp limits to use them

you can pull this with the big tractors:
JD Air Seeder 22m (wheat, barley, soybeans canola)

50 foot JD double disk

JD Planter (corn/row crop seeder)

60 ft JD cultivator

and while you are at it, why not get a big John Deere Tractor

Yes they know that. The T8 has more than enough power to run everything in the game. The larger tractors are overkill.

It helps when using two or more implements at the same time (i.e. twin mower with windrow/tedder/loading wagon), handling larger capacity items with other implements (like the loading wagon) or for high capacity tipper trains...and any/all of that while navigating hills. The more the ground change the more power needed to meet that challenge.
That said, it would be arguable whether such high power would be really NEEDED in most situations...helpful, yes, but not necessary.

Depends on the map you're playing, and the mods you have. Some mod implements require a LOT more HP than the T8 can give you even maxed out engine upgrades. At the same time, some maps aren't suitable for huge machinery, and a 300HP tractor is good enough. Like, for example, Coldborough Park Farm. You don't really need one of the quadtrack tractors there.

Can you pull it up a steep hill? I doubt it. There's a hill on Rattlesnake Valley where the tractors they give you in missions which usually have plenty of power, can only go 5 mph up the hill pulling a large slurry tank. I'll be sorta surprised if even the big Case can pull the plow up that hill at full speed. But maybe.

I have a lamborghini. The T8 is better :P But I get what you're saying. I _really_ want to buy a triple-tire tractor but can't justify it right now.

This is how we farm in North America

Thanks! Looks like some nice equipment overall, but there seems to be some sloppy things..
For instance the 2410 is a cultivator, yea? But there's no info on it on the website or in game saying how wide it is, how much power it needs, etc.

The 50 food disk shows up as a plow.. but it's a cultivator isn't it? I'm not farming expert. Just seems it's way WAY wider than the plow we have in game that requires a large tractor... and costs 450 a day? Did they throw in a 0 inadvertantly?

Now to actually test in game. Hopefully they work well, I like the idea of the large seeders.

Play on a larger map :) Tho I think triple tires are still silly.... But at least the engine size is useful lol

Agreed. I've been playing on RSV as well as Hobbs Farm, and both have some hills that really test a machine's power.

Jack these impliments would require the largest tractors in real life. While Farm Sim has gotten better trying to impliment horse power requiremnets and hills they clearly do not have it perfected yet.

I have used the mods listed above and they are far from sloppy. Take a look at them in game...the sections follow the terrain, they look like and behave like the real world implements.

A double disk is not a cultivator, it is capable of tearing up just about anything,( except for heavey grass, you might have go over that a couple times) therefore it is best placed in the plows and it counts as plowing in game.

Yea, I'll take a look in game when I get to the point of wanting to buy some large equipment.

I still don't think it should be a plow in game.. it's 15m wide and requires barely more power than the 6m one. Is there an explaination for that? As I said, I'm no real life farmer, but that seems odd to me, knowing what I know of physics.

Also, the 27m planter is cool.. But I checked the Deere website. I'm fairly certain it does not plant beets and potatoes. It's like it was made my someone who wanted a "do everything" planter rather than making it as realistic as possible. That's sorta what I was talking about. I intend to use it anyway tho... just not plant beets or potatoes with it lol

Another note is that with the next dlc it sounds like there will be larger implents, so not only will they be able to be used with the new large Big Bud tractors, but I would think you could use them with other large tractors as well.

Where I farm in Canada we do not grow beets or corn. They do grow potatoes but I have never done so. Therefore I am unfamilar with real life beet and potato farming. The planter is used for row crops and should not be able to seed cereals (wheat, barley, oats) or canola . I do not use it for that, rather i use the other airseeder. I know that full grown potatoes are used to seed new crops of potatoes, however beets are seeded from little tiny seeds, therefore they could be seeded with the row planter or the Air seeder. But they can not be harvested efficiently unless they are seeded in a rows further apart than what the Airseeder seeds. Therefore the planter row crop seeder is used. Potatoes are seeded with potato planters.

A plow takes more power per foot of ground coverage than a disk. That is a tractor could pull a bigger disk than a plow (and a bigger cultivator than disk). Plows cut deeper into the ground and actually turn it over into furrows.

I have always been disappointed by Giants including the 600 hp Case Tractor in the game (and now the Challenger in 2017) with out including anything to pull with them.
