Getting frustrated
Ok all you guys that say this game is the bees knees, I need some help. I dont have a wheel, so I'm using a controller. It seems it doesnt matter what I do, I can't get any success at this game.

I use fairly simple tracks (ovals and such like) to try and get the hang of the game. That goes fine for a couple laps. Then the car starts decreasing in performance something chronic. Can't turn corners. Can't brake.

EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

No matter what approach I have to a corner the AI ALWAYS goes round the corners faster than I can (AI set 85% btw).

So I'm getting so frustrated with this game. Help please.

Are you using assists? Tried to turn them all off?
captain403 Jun 6, 2015 @ 6:05am
Just tried that. Spin out at almost every turn. Braking (straight) at the same place the AI was. Not a chance in hades of following the racing line the AI is. Brake earlier....still spin out, AI waltzes all over me.

Looks like I wasted my money.

Turn down the brake and throttle sensitivity in control options - advanced. Put around 30-40% if you are using a gamepad and dont hit the button with full force, be gentle. Tweak there until you feel satisfied. I play sometimes with a xbox360 controller and have no problem..

Wouldn't turning down the brake sensitivity only make things worse? one of the problems I'm having is not being able to slow down fast enough to take the corner. If I reduce that, then I have to brake even earlier and then the AI will walze round the corners even faster than me.

BTW thank you for taking the time to reply.

I understand, but the thing is, using a gamepad you dont have the same type of sensitivity you can have using pedals, so if you use high sensitivity on the buttons the chance to lock the wheels it's much higher. I always turn down the sensitivity from both the brake and throttle so I can press more the respective buttons without locking the wheels or burn rubber all the time I hit the throttle. This way, most of the time I really brake earlier than the AI, to compensate I start accelerating earlier too. It's up to you find what's your style, it take some to find the perfect tweak.
And no problem, I really enjoy when people try to get into sim racing.

Well, tried changing the brake and accell sensitivity (are they supposed to be locked together?) both up and down. No chocolate fish for me. No matter what, the AI can corner better than I can, and as I've said, after 2 laps (almost always after 2 laps, no more, no less) the braking abilities just drops through the floor. I've tried tyre wear off and on, makes no difference.

Thanks for your time, but I'm all set to give up on the game.

Edit: to show how ridiculous it is, I was playing formula truck (partner game to stock car extreme) and somehow my truck was spinning out at 16k/h! Now you can't tell me that is the real deal.

They are not supposed to lock toghether. Acc and brake must be individual buttons. Set all your buttons manually at the control settings. And it looks like you are having problems with other games? Do you have another gamepad to test? Maybe it's some configuration problem of your gamepad.

Nope, only got the one. It's either gamepad or keyboard I'm afraid. Got if for euro-truck sim 2, for which it works perfectly. I'd get a wheel, but I'm not shelling out $350-450 for one (the cost locally).

As for the brake and accel being locked together, I was referring to the sensitivity sliders. I cand adjust one slider, it adjusts both at once. Is that normal?

Yeah, both are locked it seems, I think it's because is the same axis. What's your gamepad, a xbox360? Did you tried mapping every single button from you controller? Click on acc and map the button you want. Maybe the game could be understanding that your acc and brake are working toghether at the same axis.

The controller is a spartan PC controller. I use the left stick for accel/brake and the right for steering.

Maybe the game is having problems recognizing the controller properly... Does it have the same back triggers as the xbox and ps controllers? Try mapping the buttons in another way just to test it.

Yeah I feel your pain. I just can't play it
i got myself a Carbon GT racing wheel (20 bucks at Ebay) for ETS 2,and it works good for Race Injection too... after a little tweaking of course ;)
