How do you get a home base?

I read that someone created a base at a gnome station which I assume is Tonnesburg but have yet to see an option for that. Already did the ice drill quest so I assume I am past the tutorial.

The base in that map is south of the City of Ice, south west of Karl the Slow if I remember properly. I'm not too sure if the second map has one, but you'll also encounter a home base within the third map.

Hopefully the devs will add landmarks for the Homebases, as it is it's a pain sometimes to find them. Especially when the water gets cloudy....

Yeah I found that homebase, upgraded it once and never seen it again. A marker would be nice.

there actually is a "mark" on the map but not a map marker. Looks like a small blemish, that kinda looks like a side view of the Home Base.

Second map does have one though for the life of me I can't remember where.

Your first home base is right around City of Ice, just make your way over there and use sonar to locate it.

Map 2; Morgensonne ruins -> sonar on -> travel to home base -> hard?

No need for something on the map or compass. Just remember the nearest landmark.

speaking of bases does the mechanic ever upgrade there? next upgrade cost is 30k for me so don't want to waste it if it never does Lol

Adds a module that sells parts for upgrading, some special weapons (30k and 30k gun and torpedo (I think)) and medals for increasing crew attributes (4k/medal). No possibility of level 3 upgrade so far.

i have the lvl 2 upgrade now that gave me the shop and everything I'm wondering if i upgrade to lvl 3 (costs 30k) will that upgrade the mechanic from lvl 1 to 2 or can you never use her to upgrade your ships

Upgrading to lvl 3 doesnt upgrade the mechanic. It just gives 2 extra merchants as said above.

The Answer is no, at least not in the first region... It does make more crew members available at one time, and there is no tier 4 available (again not in the first region, at this time) It does add a new annex to the base with the above shops (crew upgrade medallions 4k each and 2 30k weapons, one bolt and one Torp)
