I had the same issue with the Oculus. Check out the pinned thread: Bug Report & Technical Support Thread. http://steamcommunity.com/app/446770/discussions/0/152393186498671495/

I had to add -Oculus to the launch options

You had to start with (over) the oculus App.

Hi everyone, we have just released an update which hopefully fixes the issue where you have to manually launch oculus mode.
