Help! I'm stuck in the floor!
Portal Stories:VR is designed for VR headsets with roomscale, if you don't have a SteamVR compatible headset with tracked motion controllers (Vive or Occulus rift + touch) it's not possible to play this game.

General tips:
Browser you local files and change lift.exe compatibility mode to windows 7
then go into binaries/win64 and do the same for lift-win64-shipping.exe

If you have a Vive:
Try rebooting your SteamVR drivers and try again.

If you have a Rift:
We're still working on support for the Touch, because we don't currently have the actual hardware it's a bit tricky for us to propely test it. We expect to release an update soonTM that should hopefully fix the issues for all of you using the touch controllers!

Can you give me a few more details?
What VR headset you're using?
What operating system are you running?
What are your system specifications?

Damn same here. All other Steam Vr are fine. Even Steam Home is OK but when I launch Portal Stories bang I'm in the floor

I finally got it to work, did as the original post suggested. At first when I searched for the files it didn't show up, but then realize that my windows 10 search defaulted to the web instead of local files. Ones I changed to local search I saw both files and changed compatibility to win7 on both and now it works

lift.exe should be in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Portal Stories VR" by defualt

and lift-win64-shipping.exe should be in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Portal Stories VR\Lift\Binaries\Win64" by defualt

I have this problem, using Oculus Rift+Touch on Windows 10. I changed the two files to Windows 7 compatibility but it made no difference. Also, while in the game SteamVR says that Portal Stories: VR is unresponsive, and I can't open the overlay (but the game seems to be running fine other than putting me in the floor).

edit: I decided to do some experimenting and found a way to get it working. What I have to do is:
1. Set the two executables to Windows 7 compatibility mode
2. Start SteamVR manually
3. Manually run Lift-Win64-Shipping.exe

If I try to start the game from SteamVR I end up back in the floor. Maybe Steam overrides the compatibility settings? Also if I launch the exe without SteamVR running, SteamVR opens but says it can't find the headset. Anyway it's a bit annoying but at least I can check out the game now.

I have the same problem with the Rift. I will try FolkSong's method but it's kinda stupid that this bug is still happenning and nobody knows why...

Love that you guys did this!

**EDIT** - Scratch this - I was having a blackscreen issue after doing the Win 7 compatibility fix (which was working otherwise), but it seems it was just an issue with my Oculus height needing a rescan though.

That's good news elsewhere on an update to the newer Unity build too. Fingers crossed for that!

Works. Just played it by connecting my Quest to gaming PC and applying the compatibility mode fixes as seen above.
