Does it teach you how to dance?
Hey guys, new to the JD series.

Does it actually teach you how to dance? I don't mean if it can replace a real instructor, obviously, but is there some sort of mode where you can learn each move before seeing it happen rapidly in the song?

I am saying that because I tried the free one-song Demo on ps4 and it was impossible to follow anything that was shown on the screen as I have no idea what to do since I am no dancer - making the whole process stupid.

I ended up moving just my head like a ret*ard while watching the "moves" pass by quickly as the song went on.

Is there some sort of slow-mo mode or something that teaches you how to dance each song? Otherwise it makes no sense buying it if you are no dance expert.

In the original two games for Wii, there was something like that... but now, they're just like, "Yeah, you're gonna have to do this yourself." :P

Had a forum Admin from the Ubi forums answer that to me yesterday in the end. Yes, no tutorial at all. You just get thrown into songs and see moves you have no idea how to perform pass rapidly at the bottom right of the screen.

Not buying it.

Too bad you're not going to buy it because the game has no tutorial. I highly recommend it to you, there's a lot of songs with different difficulties so you can learn step by step :2016snocone:

Seize the deal!!!

The songs aren't EVEN rated by difficulty, so you have to play everything to find out what is more difficult. Also, is asking for a tutorial so much? I didn't ask for a tutorial on how to navigate the menu, but how to actually perform the moves shown on the screen.

That 2D model of the move that passes-by fast while the song is playing is not enough. I tried the PS4 Demo and it was just impossible. Is there at least a Slow-Mo option? I keep seeing threads of people trying to find the songs on Youtube so as to play them on slow-mo (Through the Youtube feature) to catch up on moves (looks like this is happening since the very first JD titles).

Might reconsider if you can pause mid song and go back or slow-mo, so as to actually learn something^ :shigure:

No, this game won't teach you how to dance. The "Just Dance" series was never intending to go beyond "party room attraction" for much of anything. Dance Central would be more along the lines of actually learning how to dance, but that's more professional choreography (which can work for some people)

It certainly helps you to learn dance and makes you better dancer. It has done to me and to my many friends.

It is really your attitude what makes the difference here nothing here. If you put yourself into this, you will certainly make you much better

But no you cant learn to dance just by playing this game 4 hours. You have to repeat it everyday

It certainly will teach you a few things. It's just that the Demo makes it seem frustrating to actually learn. No slow-mo option, no tutorial, nothing of that sort. It's just the song playing as normal and you have to mirror the 2D moves you see on the screen fast. Pure awkwardness. Follow what the head does? The hands? The legs? The hips?

Of course, if you repeat a song 100 times you will catch up to it eventually, but again, not completely - at least for someone who hasn't done any dancing training.

Well, it is really not that hard. I just suggest that you should dress up to your fav dancing clothes.. even costumes if you have and just start recording yourself.

I was like you once and now I actually started to think that the songs are way too easy sometimes :)

You do have to repeat. The first time you play a song or even first 3-5 times would be realy bad. It is normal, we all been there :) But it doesnt really take long as long as you enjoy it.

Also you should try to make the dance moves suit to your own style. Give them some personallity, spice and your own style. Not all dance moves looks great on every single person.
