Disappearing Tyre Iron and Toolbox
During the tutorial, the uncle forces me to drop the tyre iron and it disappears. I restarted the game and the same damn thing happened again.

There's no reason for me to drop the iron in the first place, I was already carrying two tyres with it. I could have just swapped to the tyre, but it forces me to drop the iron to dismiss the speech bubble.

Thanks, but why be condescending about it?

Am I that stupid for expecting it to be where I dropped it, like everything else I drop?

Same thing happened to me with both the sponge and the tire iron.. it's convenient, but it's hard to figure out that they fly back to the jack or the bucket if you don't look at them as you drop them.

Okay, now my toolbox disappeared at the petrol station while I had it equipped when I accidentally pulled out the engine instead of repairing it. Where am I too dumb to look for it this time?

it probably has been used up you can only use the repair kit for like 4-5 times till it is used up then it automatily despawns/disapear

Never mind. After it took me three tries to finish the tutorial, it crashed on me at the first petrol station. Apparently the game doesn't save unless you quit? I don't like the game enough to click through a hundred dialog bubbles to finish the tutorial a fourth time.

Besides the crashing and the disappearing inventory, using WASD to drive (having no analog control input) just doesn't make for a fun driving game.

I requested a refund :rcry:

Okay, that makes sense, thanks. I lost interest anyway.

This game needs some more feedback to inidicate what's happening since it's a real mystery at first how mechanics like this work. Even if they put some overlay text like "iron returned to jack," "sponge returned to bucket," "toolbox used up..." until they figure out a more elegant way to visually represent these things happening.

But what really killed it for me is the driving is not fun. The only reward for getting the car running again is having to tap A and D and see the twitchy steering.

Can someone help me out?

I put the tire on the axle with one click.. then I pick up the ire iron from the jack.. if I then click once on the tire with the tire iron in my hand nothing happens.. if I hold press instead of click I pick up the tire while still holding the tire iron.

I've tried every way I can think to do it differently but I just don't know what I'm doing wrong.

you need to click on the bolt in the very center of the wheel, not the wheel itself
I understand this is a year after this discussion originated, but that in itself is VERY telling.

As for the tire iron, I thought I WAS indicating the center of the tire, not the tire itself. No dice.

I also lost interest the 5th time I found it necessary to restart the game.

Refunded. (Not my original intention, after placing this on my WL pre-release, then waiting a year for it to become affordable. Apparently, nothing has changed..........)

Thank you.

i also do not like driving with mouse and keyboard. this game is not to blame for that. get a wheel or controller. they can be used in conjunction with mouse and keyboard and this game has fluid switching between the 2 without having to go into settings.

Check the dates. I wrote that post ten whole months before they added controller support.

For what it's worth, awhile after I tried this game I discovered My Summer Car and it's pretty much everything I had hoped Jalopy would be. It even surprised me by being a much deeper and more aesthetically pleasing game than I had initially given it credit for.

I can't reccommend it enough.

They are pretty different. One I would compare to ETS2 while the other not.
