Known Work Arounds for Crashes or Loading Issues

Hello there fellow Jalopy drivers. We have created this post to help anyone out there who are having issues with Jalopy. We will keep this updated with any known issues and fixes.

Unable to get past the language select screen

If you seem to be unable to get past the language select screen, an unknown device or virtual control software could be causing issues. You can try the following to solve this

• Unplug all controllers, joysticks or controllers
  
• disable any virtual control software such as vJoy

Unable to control the car when in game

If you are unable to control the car when in game, there could be an issue with saved settings or incompatible hardware. Please try the following to solve this.

• Pause the game and go to the options menu
  
• Switch the control scheme to a different option and then back to the desired option
  
• If the issue persists, unplug and controllers or joysticks

Low camera frame rate but high game frame rate

When launching the game, select the high spec pc option.
Alternatively you can do the following

• Open your library and locate Jalopy
  
• Right Click on Jalopy and select "Properties"
  
• In the general tab, click on "Set Launch Options"
  
• type in -fixedTime 0.01
  
• Launch the game as normal

Flipped cars or your own car freaking out

When launching the game, select low spec pc option.
Alternatively you can do the following

• Open your library and locate Jalopy
  
• Right Click on Jalopy and select "Properties"
  
• In the general tab, click on "Set Launch Options"
  
• type in -fixedTime 0.03
  
• Launch game as normal

Deleting Jalopy game files / config data

Many issues can be fixed by simply clearing out the Config data or save data for Jalopy.

• Load the registry editor program by typing regedit into the windows search bar or windows start button search area
  
• Extend the HKEY_CURRENT_USER area, then the Software area and finally the MinskWorks folder.
  
• Right click on then delete the jalopy folder
  
• Load the locallow app folder by typing %appdata%\..\locallow into the windows search bar or windows start button search area
  
• Locate the MinskWorks folder and delete the jalopy folder within

Preparing to start game loop

If your game refuses to launch at all and just shows the steam "preparing to start" pop-up then you should try one of the following

• Verify your game files - you can do this by right clicking on the game in your library list, click on properties and then select the local files tab. Then click on "Verify Integrity of Game Cache"
  
• Reinstall your game files - you can do this by going back to the Local Files tab and clicking on "Delete local game content" and then installing the game again.
  
• Clear all config/save files for Jalopy (see above)
  
• You may need to disable any Anti-virus software which could be prevent jalopy from loading

Black Screen in main menu

When launching the game, sometimes you may be presented with a black screen. You can fix this by doing the following

• Clear out the registry entries for Jalopy (see above)
  
• Change the graphic options in the launch window
  
• Start the game, if the game does not load repeat previous steps but select a different graphical option (Fantastic, Beautiful etc)

i tried opening Jalopy after the latest update and game crashes upon opening save. anybody else have a similar experience? how can I submit crash info to dev?

so i was in a town with no money and i saved the game came back in a few minuts to find that it chrashed evertime i chouse a route to drive on also it started me back at the beginning

It appears that only sleeping in a hotel will save your location. Any other time, you go back to the last place you slept. Be that home or a previous hotel.

I would like a better functional save game feature since half the time, when I sleep in a hotel, it crashes when I wake up and all my progress is lost.

Whenever I try to start the game on my laptop, the game crashes before starting. This happens on all selectable starting funtions.

Tried all of the above and the game still won't stop the "launching loop" :/

There is a problem, after the Turkey update, when you go and try to communicate with the NPC's, (Like, when you get to the Hotel, or border crossing, y'know) the texts are really really small and differents parts of the characters are vertical, and it's not like before where you can see everything, it's just kinda bugged. And it's probably going to confuse new players to the game. I don't know if it's showing it to everyone, but I'm assuming it is. Will you be able to fix that please? Also make a forum about reporting bugs about the game, or pin it if you have. But the update is amazing, I love the tyre repair kits I was so sick and tired of having to change the tyres every single time.

So another thing happened, my wallet is literally showing me I have 888 money, although I don't, I tried to buy something, but it didn't work, I think ever since the Turkey update, more bugs came around, I know this is early access but, before the Turkey update, these things didn't happen. But this is fixable by selling something.

I have the same problem as well, and I already did all the given solutions, without success.
