Known Work Arounds for Crashes or Loading Issues

Hello there fellow Jalopy drivers. We have created this post to help anyone out there who are having issues with Jalopy. We will keep this updated with any known issues and fixes.

Unable to get past the language select screen

If you seem to be unable to get past the language select screen, an unknown device or virtual control software could be causing issues. You can try the following to solve this

• Unplug all controllers, joysticks or controllers
  
• disable any virtual control software such as vJoy

Unable to control the car when in game

If you are unable to control the car when in game, there could be an issue with saved settings or incompatible hardware. Please try the following to solve this.

• Pause the game and go to the options menu
  
• Switch the control scheme to a different option and then back to the desired option
  
• If the issue persists, unplug and controllers or joysticks

Low camera frame rate but high game frame rate

When launching the game, select the high spec pc option.
Alternatively you can do the following

• Open your library and locate Jalopy
  
• Right Click on Jalopy and select "Properties"
  
• In the general tab, click on "Set Launch Options"
  
• type in -fixedTime 0.01
  
• Launch the game as normal

Flipped cars or your own car freaking out

When launching the game, select low spec pc option.
Alternatively you can do the following

• Open your library and locate Jalopy
  
• Right Click on Jalopy and select "Properties"
  
• In the general tab, click on "Set Launch Options"
  
• type in -fixedTime 0.03
  
• Launch game as normal

Deleting Jalopy game files / config data

Many issues can be fixed by simply clearing out the Config data or save data for Jalopy.

• Load the registry editor program by typing regedit into the windows search bar or windows start button search area
  
• Extend the HKEY_CURRENT_USER area, then the Software area and finally the MinskWorks folder.
  
• Right click on then delete the jalopy folder
  
• Load the locallow app folder by typing %appdata%\..\locallow into the windows search bar or windows start button search area
  
• Locate the MinskWorks folder and delete the jalopy folder within

Preparing to start game loop

If your game refuses to launch at all and just shows the steam "preparing to start" pop-up then you should try one of the following

• Verify your game files - you can do this by right clicking on the game in your library list, click on properties and then select the local files tab. Then click on "Verify Integrity of Game Cache"
  
• Reinstall your game files - you can do this by going back to the Local Files tab and clicking on "Delete local game content" and then installing the game again.
  
• Clear all config/save files for Jalopy (see above)
  
• You may need to disable any Anti-virus software which could be prevent jalopy from loading

Black Screen in main menu

When launching the game, sometimes you may be presented with a black screen. You can fix this by doing the following

• Clear out the registry entries for Jalopy (see above)
  
• Change the graphic options in the launch window
  
• Start the game, if the game does not load repeat previous steps but select a different graphical option (Fantastic, Beautiful etc)

ok so with the newest update all my stuff is gone!!!!!!! so now im screwed help i had the orange engine evreything orange expect the carbrater it was brown i had a roof rack a tool rack i had whells i had a gauge that tells me if my car is broken i had 1000 dallors what the heck where is my stuff please tell me if you can fix and if so please fix it i am about to stop playing please i am SO MAD can a devloper help me with this i am so mad and my door is gone??????!!!!!! my left one
and my head lights are gone the ones you buy from the upgrade shop please i loved this game until this happned i felll though the face of the earth i dont care but this makes me mad im about to post on evrey website that your stuff just deletes when you start up the game if you help me ill telll you where there are glitches please like if you go on the left tunnel in the begning you fall trough the earth when yoou open your boxes and trow your stuff down it goes through the earth please help me please can you like send a code to get alll my stuff back or something my email is

Please help, I've tried all the reccomended steps for the endless preparing to launch issue but it's still happening.

As far as I know, there's no way to recover what sounds like a deleted save file. If you accidentally hit "new game," there's a big warning that tells you that it'll delete your save data.

At the same time, there are no microtransactions or premium items in the game, so the only thing lost was your time. Sorry for your luck.

Also you should probably be more careful giving out email addresses. You have no idea how much spam you've just opened yourself up to.

OK, so I went back onto Jalopy to check out the new Bulgaria update. I started back at my home and drove to the first town, pretty normal. When arriving before the traffic lights, my car suddenly sank into the ground and I was falling out of the map! My windows were immediately smashed and my car was rolling around and falling. Then it stopped and I got out of my car. All I saw were stars and blackness (because it was night-time) All I saw was the sky box and I could hear myself walk when I moved but I couldn't do anything! I just experienced this and thought I would share it as it freaked me out a lot! Just wanted you to know about this experience

Hi, I'm getting the "Preparing to start" loop, even after trying all the suggested steps above. I'm running Windows 10 x64 with a nVidia GTX 970. Love the game!

Edit: After rebooting, the problem seems to have gone away.
