No one answered my question yesterday, but as you can see from the forum, there's lots and lots bugs in this that pretty much kill it dead. Just read the few pages on the forum and that's your answer. Roundabouts in the middle of nowhere, jerry cans that can't be refilled, car that can't be refuelled, borders that can't be crossed, boot contents going missing, story not progressing with uncle - these are all posts made by gamers here that I have read since it left early. I myself was keeping an eye on it - especially after MSC which I bought but it's become more an annoyance than enjoyable, since it's more about the player than the car, which is what I bought it for. Like looking after a 50 year old adult baby! I prefer to work on the car etc.Things like Xbox controller support should be standard but are not for both games, certainly not default. Do you buy and hope it gets fixed (jalopy) or wait......? It's a gamble
At today it's not worth it, too many bugs that haven't been fixed, this "1.0" looks like just another EA release, not a stable game

I wonder if the "sale" is to try and bring in more funds to spend on it, to even finish it? I'm talking bugs since you guys have had a hard time with stability issues. Obviously you think that basic issues should have gone out prior to leaving early?? Makes me wonder if it's going to get abandoned like Spintires....

I played it a bit, and the core gameplay idea is really fun, but it lacks a certain amount of polish and bugfixes to make it truly complete.
In my 10h of playtime, I didn't have any stability issues or crashes during gameplay, but there were occasional bugs with item usage, uncle position/AI, and just gameplay hiccups that frustrated me. One time I ran out of fuel inside a border checkpoint for example, and spent 10 minutes trying to punch the car door open to refuel the car with no space and a locked up brake.
The graphics too are intentionally minimalistic which is kinda nice in concept, but you often get the feeling that this is used as an excuse to leave parts of the graphics just downright broken, like the illumination level on horizons or the flickering of textures.

The closest this game comes to feeling is propably "the Aurora Wager", a free indie game jam project about flying a hot air baloon. It feels similarly janky, but with a great core gameplay idea of upgrading your vehicle by scavenging.

Personally, I had fun with it so far, and it was definitely worth it for me, but I might've just been incredibly lucky with the bugs I encountered. I'd love to see this game get polished and fixed, but I wouldn't count on it.

MSC 253 hours played, Jalopy 48 hours played. I think that answer your question. I like both games but you have more content with MSC for that money. Its very dissapointing that Jalopy don't come for Linux and Mac.

How is MSC compared to this?
I'm not someone who obsesses over cars in real life, but I enjoy the way you have to make do with the parts you have, in a kind of engineering management gameplay.

Sigh what a shame, Seems like such a cool game too. Are the bugs really that unbearable?

As I said I like Jalopy. An yes it its a different kind of game. But many people looks like a game which there have to drive and repair a car. Jalopy set a focus on the story which is cool too. But I think MSC is the game which makes the people more happy for the price.

For example: I didn't nearly anything about cars. Since I played MSC I know much more. In Jalopy you have to fix your tyres every 100 meters. Thats not funny if you play this for 200 hours...

I'm an old skool car mechanic, I jumped at msc but it's was a mistake. It's 90% tend to the players needs, as in your a kid in an adult body. Constantly needing fed/watered, sleep, toilet needs, washed, addictions managed or you die, quite simply. The car building is superb in the parts etc but the controls are a nightmare - forget your Xbox controller here. A lot of bolts, nuts are only accessible by putting your head through body panels and you will miss some. There's no manual in-game to build the car, tons online YouTube etc. But defeats the purpose if you haven't a clue how to build a car. For me it's basic to a point but things like timing, valve clearances, fuel mixture you don't do off the top of your head! No mechanic can without a workshop manual. Plenty to do in-game but no guide how to. It's pure haphazard to say the least and makes jalopy a full on racing sim in comparison. But for me I can't be bothered with the 'adult baby' that you play and constantly manage. The guy has worms, diabetes, drug addiction and a house that's as safe as a gallon petrol in a microwave. It will burn down as soon as you fart in it, turn the TV on and bang goes flames, turn on the sauna to wash yourself and relief stress, you have to relieve stress BTW or get addicted to ♥♥♥♥, booze doing it that way, and it's got a chance to burn the house down again. It can and will get hit by lightning. The parts you build the car out of are made from chocolate and last as long.... You can buy parts and upgrade the car from fleetari garage but he has a habit of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the car up or screwing up things. Parts break and will require complete strip downs, taking hours and I'm not kidding. No break down recovery, walk miles to get truck to tow car back, get fuel or die doing it, you will...
If you play it as an adult child and can get over that, needing sleep, food, toilet, wash all at different times but never getting more than 30 mins work done on your car, then by all means, get it. But that's the story of the game. It's hilarious watching YouTube vids but not for me playing it as a car mechanic. Hey Ho.

But neither is tending to your 'adult baby' player every 30 minutes in msc, permanently through the entire game... Fixing a car is fun but 'fixing the player' needs regardless if you do nothing, the needs keep climbing and climbing all the bloody time! You never ever get a break from them. Barely anytime to enjoy the car or game because you have to keep an eye on the meters. It should be an option to disable them or even just to eat, sleep in a realistic time cycle. Time just goes too fast
