What the hell happened to my wallet?
First time playing. At the first town, I went to buy a couple ignition coils. Then I attempted to buy a crowbar from the market, and discovered my wallet was missing.

Next thing I knew, I'd unintentionally sold my ignition coils at a loss, and couldn't get the crowbar. I discovered the transaction cancel lever, but after cancelling the transaction, couldn't pick up the ignition coils except to immediately have them registered as sold.

What. The. Hell?

Good to know!

Any thoughts on getting items back after cancelling a transaction? If I just have to be extra careful, so be it, but it seems like there should be some way of doing it.

You can cancel a transaction at the counter -pull the lever in front of it.
Do you use an XBox controller? If so D-Pad left or right to cycle through items that you carry. The prominent item will be held in front of you the secondary will be to the right of it. So if you sell/buy an item -with your wallet in your hand cycle until the item(s) -i think you can hold 2 items and your wallet being the third- are held out then when you finish the wallet will be last and you can get a refund or pay.

Nope. Doesn't resolve the problem. I had already discovered how to cancel the transaction. The items I hadn't wanted to sell were on the counter, my hands were empty, but I couldn't pick them up. All I could do was re-sell them.

the wallet needs to drop, this is getting to the point of fustration on so many levels. ran out of gas, have hit that button on the wallet to many times, just finally alt f4 the game. drop it, not teleport it back.

My opinion on the wallet behavior changed when I got the tool rack. Yes, it is annoying to have to keep running back to the glove compartment, but it is so convenient to just drop the crowbar or jack and have them go home, it changes your POV.

Imagine if every important tool or piece of paper in your life went home on it's own when you absentmindedly put it down.

The problem is, if you drop the wallet and don't realize it, you'll never, ever get it back. All the tools or sellable items randomly spawn, so it can be a slight to moderate inconvieniece to lose them. However, imagine playing the game entirely unable to buy/sell, rent a hotel room or ever upgrade your car. It may be annoying, but it's certainly for the best.

The best alternate would be some kind of credit system where you don't need the wallet at all, but it wouldn't go along with theme of the game I guess.
