How to open the gate at a scrap yard ?

It could be battery or fuel. Check that all the parts of the engine are there and that it has some fuel and that the battery has some charge. You can remove your own car parts for what missing then pull the level when it's ready.

Nope, I just put my non-stock motor in one and it worked.
Just remember to take them back out.

There are 4 things you might need to do:

1. repair one of the engine pieces because its integrity value is at 0
   
2. replace the battery because the charge is at 0
   
3. put gasoline in the tank because empty
   
4. replace one of the engine parts with one of your because missing

...and lastly the most important thing: when you're done cough cough-stea-cough-ling cough borrowing objects inside, take even those of the opening system, some more Mark always makes it convenient.
