Can't use shop at all

Every time I try to buy something from the shop I can never leave unless I block the gate with my car. Sad thing is I am just passed the second town but my car broke down. I ran back (very slowly) and bought a repair kit and fuel, paid for it THEN left, but the stupid gate is locked still. Why does it keep doing that?!

I think I figured it out.
If you are holding something you are going to buy, if you click on the cash register with your wallet BEFORE scanning your item the gate bugs out and won't open.

You just push all the stuff you want to buy over the counter, then you click on the counter with your wallet in your hand, and then you can leave

That's... Not a bug. You have to put everything you wish to buy on the counter before you pay for it. Otherwise, you're holding store property, and the gate stays closed as a theft prevention measure.

No, you clearly didn't understand. If you click on the register with your wallet, then scan your items and pay again it STILL won't open the gate.

Park your car in the gate so it can't close, then buy your stuff. Don't steal, it is tempting but I think there's a downside to stealing from the shop in the game.
