Going with the same theme, you can boost the same effect from the other side by using cushioned flip-flops to take less damage, lessening the amount of health you need.
Taking vampire sunglasses will heal slightly less than using the awe cloak but you will boost any healing relic and the health pool of the game.
Using safer arcana such as cardice prime, volt pinball, tearing whirlwind, vortex veil, earthen aegis and raging inferno is advised.
The best safe basic arcana is flame strike for the AOE and knockback but spark contact has a smaller AOE and can be used instead.
The best safe dash is frost feint by far. You can use a whole retreat/attack strat at any time with just that dash and using basic arcana allowing your signature to cooldown.
I totally hear you on the difficulty. My friend picked it up way easier than I did and I have only just missed killing the final boss solo. Many runs are needed.
The game is kick a$$ fun though. I am using vortex veil and tearing whirlwind atm and its awesome for mobs.
Using cardice prime or vortex veil makes those small rooms death traps for your enemies.
You do a "prep" spell of cardice prime then volt pinball then dash into the room. If the volt pinball disappears it has done damage to almost everyone in the room and cardice prime protects you from all melee. Dash away leaving a lure to do your casting time again in a safe area. There are many things to do in this game, its killer.
As you learn more and get better you'll be able to avoid the worst situations. It all depends on your skill and your build...some arcanas make things much much harder by require setup and or taking too long to deal damage while leaving you vulnerable.
Don't get me wrong, there are many good dashes but frost feint gives the ability to kite which is unique and much safer.
You have to buy into relics and arcana to unlock access to other relics and arcana. They are set up in sections (as if relics and arcana are assigned levels) that you have open to see them. It makes the game feel like level progression as you start seeing new relics that you can now buy, continuing the cycle.
