I think I found the best build.
I think it's fair to say that the Tearing Whirlwind arcana was pretty great even before it was a signature ability. Since it's recent buff, I've been working with a fun build that I'm considering calling the Serrated Spinning top for reasons that will soon become clear.

Signature: Tearing Whirlwind
This is the cornerstone of the build. It's honestly hard to go back to using it as a Standard arcana once you get used to the enhanced version.

Standard: Cardice Prime
This is the serration on the spinning top. I've tried using Bolt Pinball and that earth shield ability, but this one is the best. Just use it before Tearing Whirlwind, as if it needed saying.

Dash: Ignition Rush
You can actually do whatever you want for this one, but Ignition Rush synergizes pretty well with the Signature.

Basic: Bolt Rail
This one doesn't matter much. Explosive barrels can be a thorn in your side since they stop your Tearing Whirlwind rather painfully, so getting rid of them from a distance will make your life easier. Bolt Rail has just enough range to get the job done, and is great for finishing off baddies after your signature ends. Alternatively, if you absolutely must have a melee arcana to use with Dark Katana, I prefer Ice Daggers.

Cloak: Awe
You will get plenty of chances to crit with this build, so this cloak will probably give you the most DPS. I've tried this build with Fury to try to get the signature to charge faster, but honestly, I didn't notice the faster charge as much as I noticed the lack of crits.

Starting Relic: Dark Katana
Tearing Whirlwind and Cardice Prime are both melee arcana, right? If you're worried about HP, I suppose Vampire's Eyeglasses will earn their keep pretty quickly.

Strategy and Purchase Plans
Spin to win. Try to avoid scooping up exploding barrels and Fire Knights with a flame shield, and make sure to stun lock your enemies after your Tearing Whirlwind ends. Where the real fun of this build comes in is in what to buy.

As far as Arcana go, don't buy any. You don't need them, and you will get them for free as you play. As long as you weren't an idiot and gambled one off to Nocturne or Dr. Song, the starting arcana you have are more than sufficient for a successful run. If you get a chance, upgrade Cardice Prime, but other than that, there are only a few that synergize well. Lighting Aspect and Evading Zephyr are okay, I guess, but you don't want to have to activate too many buff arcana before Tearing through on your Whirlwind. Activating buff arcana takes time that you might not have.

Let's move on to the relics: First of all, don't buy Sharpened Stylus or Double Edged Cestus. They will decrease your DPS for this build. This build will let you charge your signature pretty often, so Wanderer's Mechanism will be a good pickup, and maybe even Secret Wildcard. Picking up more crit items is always a good idea, even if it's Crimson Clover. You should also keep an eye out for items that charge your signature faster, like Bladed Buckler or Surefire Rocket.

But above all, make sure you keep an eye out for one in particular: Volatile Gemstone.

Breaking the Game
I'm sure you all know how signature spells work. You hit baddie, blue bar go up, when no hit baddie, blue bar go down. The more you hit, the more blue bar go up until it can't go up anymore and then BOOM. Big damage signature.
Why am I explaining this? Well, before the Sky Palace update, I noticed that while your charged signature ability is activated, your signature bar is immediately emptied and disabled until your signature spell ends. Of course, this is to prevent Signatures with huge damage from charging the Signature bar right back up again ad infinitum. Sounds fair and balanced, right?

Apparently, somebody forgot to add this feature to Tearing Whirlwind.

Until it gets patched, IF it gets patched, that means that all the big damage you do with the Tearing Whirlwind goes towards charging your signature all over again, even when using the Charged Signature version. This alone will not break the game, because at the beginning of your run you will only get about a quarter of your signature bar charged after using the Charged Signature. You need just a little bit more damage first, as well as the Volatile Gemstone.

Once you have some good relics and VG, keep watching for big groups of mobs. With just one cast of Cardice Prime and your Sig, you should have your first Charged Sig ready to go. As long as they don't immediately die from the first Charged Sig, you're next Charged Sig should be ready to go. If they did all die and you still ended up with your Signature Charged, well, there's always Infinity Marble.

Congratulations: You just broke the game.

That bug with the sig charge should probably get patched, yeah. Even without it, though, the build sounds like a fun time. Note to self: next run, try being a Beyblade.

I'm going to try a Cooldown reduction build with it and try not to rely on the charge signature. The spell is just so fun that there's so much customization that you can do with the combo.

its not a bug, the whirlwind arcana signature does not refill the signature gauge, it is the cardice prime that fill's the gauge, test it yourself cast the whirlwind signature without cardice and it will not fill up the gauge

They admitted it was a bug when they patched it. I got very upset when they did, but the combo still is very effective. I'm pretty sure that your Signature is supposed to be locked out of further charging when the charged version is active. If the bug is back, you just became my new best friend.

yea been playing with this build recently only noticed that the signature itself cannot charge the signature, im fairly sure other ability's that persist during the ability such as cardice or wards and agents can still charge signature during the signature.
