Well, the cushioned flip-flops worked best for me. That gives you awesome defense.

Here's a tip for the bosses that really helped me: Count the number of attacks.
The first boss is vulnerable after 3 attacks.
The second boss is vulnerable after 4 attacks.
The third boss is vulnerable after 5 attacks.
Master Sura is vulnerable after his chaos magic attack.

welp, I have the same exact problem, but I have actully have gotton to master sura's second form and lost barely... I could probably beat him if a did a marathon of tries, but if I had to give any tricks, I'd recomend the pathfinders map and bouncing surge, so you know where your going and you can stun well, just don't accedently pick up a curse relic, I may have done that for vampire fangs on my run that made it it the second form of master sura...
And also, I can't recomend playing with a controller if your using a ranged deck, its really hard to aim with a controller and I've done it plenty of tries

I find that spells that give you i-frames are a god send. The Lightning Signature that has you lightning dashing between multiple targets is REALLY good against everything.

Yea, thats what i used, it is really good, but if you dont like going up close, I recomend bouncing surge, its really good against the final bosses orbs.

The easiest runsI have done is mostly lighting arcana and full defense items.
It feels like lightning does more dmg overall including shocks (i dont have the numbers), is easy to combo because it does very little knockback and is safe thx to the shock that is actually a stun :0
I also think that frost lvls are the hardest so lightning also helps

i'd say earth is hardest because of the trees and the tiny stadium, then fire because of the stupid luck based meteor ult, then ice because her patterns are predictable to me

You have to make survival a priority. I won for the first time by having a defense-centered build.
Grit robe, the protecting wave front dash, whirlwind tornado signature that damages while protecting you from projectiles.
These two are the most important imo. I added to these bouncing blaze for the ranged version of a basic arcana, and an agent. Agents not only damage ennemies, but lure attacks on them, so that you get targeted less often.
Choose your relic wisely depending on what you chose. If you have a quick but limited ranged basic arcana, consider taking the flak gauntlet. If you take the shift robe instead, try the vamp glasses or something boosting crits or evade even more.

And most importantly choose your cursed relics during the run so that they combo with your other relics, otherwise it can be more dangerous than useful. Example : limited edition robe with double trouble. And don't forget relics of envy or greed are more often than not really beneficial.

It took me a while to beat the game myself, and yeah it took me until I unlocked everything but an agent build with health boosts is what helped me

robe- if you purchased all the robes, the red robe becomes the hope robe and you get a few nice bonuses with it including extra health (+25) and critical attack bonus.

basic - air spinner - try to get the enhanced version when you can. It lacks range and power, but makes up for the fact that it can hit around you making it great when you are getting ganged up on.

standard - whirl wind agent (enhance when you can). You can also use line agent. I like these agents because they not only attack independently but enemies target them.

signature - snowflake chakrams - my play style is a up close which causes me to get surrounded a lot. With this, having to face your opponent all the time is no longer important. Also, sometimes if enemies are close enough the agents and chakrams hit targets at the same time. The only disadvantage is you'll have to adjust where you are standing to get every chakram to hit your target. A good test on how and when to stand is against Taffy. Launch the agents and learn where and how to stand against Taffy. If done right she'll...it...whatever will break.

Relic - jewelry box. At this point you're no longer collecting gems. But, with jewelry box those gems no longer go to waste. Now they'll heal you.

If you can try to grab another agent on your run.

You may also want to pick up vampire glasses, giant heart, raspberry cookie box, tea of mercy and super carrot cake. These items will help increase your health along the way without having to rely on a health potion (you still might have to if you keep getting hit of course). You can also get emergency spiked kit IF you have super carrot cake as well other relics. You get to regenerate health (at low health)which is a bonus, however, your healthbar will be reduced. Super carrot cake allows you to recover "some" of the health you lost. Tiny crocodile heart as well as vampire fangs should be avoided if you have >50% of your health at the time. They are fine in stage 1 because the benefits start to outweigh the curse, but in stage 3 you probably should avoid. More importantly you'll want to restore any health AFTER you get those relics. I've made the mistake of getting them after i got health back and yeah, what a waste.

One last thing, pop-up primer, grimoire of ruin, and yuna's storybook are other relics you want to pick up with this agent build. They'll increase the number of agents and their damage at the cost of their health (which is negligible).
really you can win with any build. if you want an easy run, get the wind buff, venture outfit, and the covert ops mask or devis teapot. OP as all hell, cant even get hit.

bolt rail, magnetic follow-up, frost fan as finisher, evening gloves relic. look for tiny crocodile heart in the first 2 levels and hope you can get leemo's leaf and cross your fingers for bracers of the beast. bonus if you can get double trouble. by the end you'll have like 800hp and be able to evade and guard like crazy. You're almost guaranteed a win.

my "cheese" arcana build would just pair spark contact and fuelled berserker. The lightning stun and the rapid fire punches can make for gnarly combos. I can get pretty close to 1 or 2 shot most bosses with this setup.
Highly advise to use the evening gloves for even fast punches.
