as for jep, i just updated the instructions, i forgot zander changed the wording in partialityt o be more clear, and didn't update the instructions to reflect the changes.
I feel like you must not use the same version you are distributing or something. I tried to follow the "exact" instructions, but they simply don't match the screen. Under "To Install", step 3, there was/is no "Patch Game" button on Partiality.
Here's a screenshot of what it looks like (at least on Windows 10):

No "Patch Game" button.
Also, note the big message that pops up about needing the App ID. That's why people are getting confused about that. You don't need it, but that's why it's throwing people off. Maybe something in the instructions that say to ignore it.
FWIW, I didn't need to click the non-existant "Patch Game" button. When I opened the EXE in Partiality, it created the Mods dir. I was then able to pick back up with your directions and drag the dll in and refresh mods and apply.
I'm a programmer, though, so I'm used to following instructions that don't necessarily fit the product. :D
Partiality Dev speaking here: I included the APPID system for a couple reasons.
First, a previous community of mine wanted a way to auto-launch the game from Partality. The only consistent way I found to do that was to use the steam APPID from the game's folder to run the game via steam. Other methods had problems...
Along with that, mod developers need a way to quickly auto-launch the game when testing mods, and in the case of patch mods, they need to re-run partiality each time they make a change.
The main issue here is that every game I've tested on previously had a .txt file in their directory that contained the game's appid, but WoL doesn't have that, thus forcing the user to get said appid themselves. Because of this, I'm going to ask the devs if they can include that file in the next update, which will remove the need for users to get it, as well as keeping it completely functional.
In a future update, I'll probably add a more clear warning message that only pops up once...
I appreciate both the time spent by the developer of Partiality and the developer of the mod. Thanks!
I understand! I'm not really upset either, I was just clarifying the intent of the feature itself, and what it's meant to be used for. And also why it doesn't work with WoL out of the box.
Also, I'm a bit confused by the description of Cartographer's Quill; is it only able to increase DMG by 4% total, or is that 4% per complete floor? Because if completely mapping all of the floors only yields 4% DMG, I think that item needs a buff. Why not get Amulet of Sundering instead(It costs less gold than the Quill and gives an unconditional bonus to DMG)?
Yes quill is a stacking 4%. it even specifies - Damage increase lasts for the entire trial. (So, This stacks with itself)

but yes, the quill is fantastic early, and even pretty decent late.
When updateing, remember to read the read me.
