The actual OP items in the game enable you to not even worry about dodging, Flash boots is not one of them.
And the item that increases your dodging skill tremendously enable you to not worry about having the tippity-top best loadout; you simply have to dodge, easily I might add, and deal damage at your own pace. Both your loadout and this relic are overpowered in different ways. Dealing high damage is the best way to beat a run, I get that, but Flashy Boots makes boss fights that much easier to deal with and to learn their abilities. It's really easy to dodge Ice Queen's Tier 3 Snowflake barrages or Master Sutra's void grab when you can dodge everything in a second.
And my main point of this thread was to say how Flashy Boots has no downsides at all. Moving fast without any downsides is amazing but overpowered, but at least it is very fun to play with.
also triple dodge makes you as fast as Master Sutra's dodges and it's like an anime fight and that's amazing
If I find one of 3 cursed items I can walk into bosses with my starting loadout and they die before they get an attack off, this includes master Sura. That kinda stuff is OP, Flashy boots is not even close.
Right, you're repeating yourself now. I didn't say Flashy Boots is the best item in the game, nor did I say it was the most overpowered item ever. I didn't diminish any other overpowered items at all. You're making me repeat myself, but oh well, I am merely saying that Flashy Boots is overpowered in terms of movement -- you can avoid every single attack without breaking a sweat, even with the slow running speed which does not matter in terms of downsides.
Flashy Boots changes your playstyle into a dodging frenzy, and a damn good one at that. Sure, getting relics that kills bosses insanely fast is the better option but if you did not find those yet you got the Flashy Boots, at least you can compete with the same effectiveness with those insane dodges.
Which is the whole point of the item and not Overpowered at all and it does matter since you can attack while moving, you can't attack while dodging.
If I had to rank this relic, it would be somewhere down in the bottom. Getting damage and cooldowns is so much better than triple dash.
Flashy Boots is probably the most fun I've had in this game so far, and that includes me destroying Master Sura's first form quite easily. Moving around with this relic is incredibly fun. I'm sure there are better relic, haven't gotten around to that point yet, but moving fast has always been a plus in most games, specifically Metroidvanias and Mobas.
And during Master Sura's second form, he dodges quite fast as well so you can match his speed and it feels like a heated anime battle and I find that awesome.
