So we absolutely N E V E R play PVP games ...I am serious we always fight "ironically we are both 25+ years old" but he really just loses his sh*t if I beat him.
And every time this game makes us 1v1 I just go afk and tell him " Just kill me fast " And several times he just " man just fight lets see who can win " and i just keep making excuses to not battle him.
So for me it would be a good thing to have it turned off, but i guess it doesn't really matter anymore since we beat the game and got 80% achievements in like 6 hours ...glad he paid for the game and not me tho lmao
It probably should have a time limit, with a sudden death afterwards.
It felt cool to pit our spells against each other, since we were both more challenging opponents to each other than anything else in game. We got better with our accuracy, dodging, and spell use, and we discovered some neat combos throughout the fight.
And the best part for us was just that it didn't have any impact on the run, and we could proceed like normal.
Sure, maybe adding some kind of "forfeit" would work, but I certainly don't think it needs to be removed. It sounds like the problem is the person you're playing with. I mean, your whole issue with it is trying to come up with excuses to not fight each other.
I'm just joking, thankfully my friend and I both know some things are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, kinda like when I get the spinning top or that fire berserk spell and win by just waterballing and then holding auto attack.
But yeah if you wanted to be a complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, ice seekers would be the best spell for it. You can't avoid them at all and they set up allowing you to do anything you want as a follow up.
I think for that former group of people, the game being categorized as "Local Co-op" is kind of deceiving.
1) It drains your gold if you have Armor of Greed equipped during the duel
2) It's game over if you kill each other simultaneously (which is possible, just happened to me)
/facepalm
(good thing it happened after the first boss and not the third)
Devs: just add an option to opt in-out of this, and fix the bugs.
And even then, these are some specific edge cases. They should absolutely be addressed, but these aren't going to be common occurrences.
