Test answers and more
Hello there,
I really like this game so far. It's simple to learn maybe sometimes a bit too much (going to the kataganas next). I think i will wait until i have all hiraganas etched into my brain haha.

One downside which bothers me is for example when you do the pop test or the slightly harder test with the principal when you are (for example) shown せ and for answers you get two times a whole word where you know that this isn't what is looked for and there is one se and like two times ko you automatically know which one it is.

It would be better when you are asked for words, then there should only be words! and 5 different ones instead of two times the same word, two syllables and one word which is right. (I had one time when i got 5!!! times the answer ko which was looked for so you couldn't be wrong with any answer)

I hope this could somehow be integrated so you really have to learn them instead of the whats wrong the other must be right method. With this version right now, most times you just know without knowing which is right (maybe you want to aim for that I don't know).

With the method Word - only show words, syllable - only show syllables and no duplicates you could make it more of a "learning" game.

Maybe others are also seeing this and can also give a few examples because I think I am not the only one with this little "issue".

Second thing I would like to mention/ask:

Can we select on our desk before we sleep how many questions we want to "train"? 5 are way too less and always to start over to sometimes get the same ones when you are a little farther into the game feels not really like learning or taking "pop tests".

If you could combine this both issues you would really have a "learning game".

Sorry for the long text :-)

Thank you anyway for this game,

Minihanky

I agree to both of these things.
The questions can quite often be answered correctly by process of elimination, and that doesnt aid much in learning the language. It does help progress the VN side of things for people who are less interested in the language, so I can see why its more lax that way.

I still think it would be better to seperate studying/tests into character and vocab portions though. Furigana drills are better suited to taking input rather than multiple choice, but vocab works well with multiple choice.

As for the studying I agree that 5 is way too short to really be worth anything. There really aught to be more customization behind your studying process. (length/time/target vocab)

I can agree that being able to raise the number of questions would be a nice, and/or perhaps add a "Lab" for more intensive study somewhere to the map. As far as the "two of the same answers in the quiz means that is the answer" does not hold true. At least twice the coding in the game engine put two of the incorrect answer on the screen which wouldn't have helped. Perhaps the bug/glitch that allows for doubling up of answers could be addressed.

I agree with the # of questions request. I've always had to go back 5 times during each testing session (in class or before bed) so I could be better prepared for the next weekly exam. If I could choose 25 questions for a test (keeping with the 6 seconds per question), that would eliminate my need to restart the exam 5 times.

On the multiple duplicate answer 'bug', I don't find that it is always accurate to choose the double-answer; but that has already been stated here in another reply. What I can say for that is, look at the question... say the answer out loud... then go look for it. You WILL learn that way.

Hello,
Thank you for the comments! On the test content side we are working on a new version with more rules to avoid duplicates and a more defined pool of options. Still random but with more control!
As for the option to have more questions during pop quiz and evening quiz it is somewhat of a conundrum... Many lessons do not have the content to support up to 10 questions (remember that pop quiz and one option of the evening quiz rely solely on the latest lesson) therefore in our test we are facing a lot of...the same question.
As for the option to extend it through a choice from the player we will be looking at it and see what it will take to have it implemented.
Thank you again for giving us your opinion, it is a process for us to define what we need to improve to make LLJ an even better game!

I suppose from what the developer said it would be more likely to have an option to select the question numbers for the all lessons option which would work well with what was requested in the opening post. I wonder if this would be added with the option to have an incremental timer that matched the number of questions or the option to remove the timer for the review as it can be tricky upping the number of questions yet doing them in the same time you would get for just 5/10 questions.
