Whats wrong with 6 & 7? Had tons of fun with all games in the series xcpt 4. :)
It's not that they were bad, they had solid foundations, but Ubisoft rushed their release before the games were finished (still riddled with bugs) but then pulled the plug on them before any reasonable development timetable table (unforgivable bugs were still present and multiplayer was unplayable)
I did really like VI's story involving siblings that ended up in different factions, but didn't like the missing resources, mage guilds, and everyone having a revive/heal spell. The skill trees were also imbalanced in that certain skills were never used, making each hero essentially the same as the upgraded classes were a joke making you take certain things. VII's gameplay is optimized, and story was OK, it was my favorite modern title after V, but I still fall back on my earlier statement about Ubi stopping development way too early, my biggest gripe is not fixing multiplayer. It may not be deterrent to those who just want to play the campaigns (yet I still see posts about others being bug blocked from finishing certain maps), but that was a deal breaker for me.
