Trial by fire is a standalone expansion. You dont need the base game to play the expansion but you need the expansion to play the base game.

Therefore, if you have trial by fire, you only need to install this "game". Dont install the base one.

Is that really true? I have both Heroes VII Deluxe and Trial by fire. I chose to only install Trial of fire based on this thread and my lack of storage space. However, in the main menu of Trial, I only have access to "Add-on". The main campaign button is greyed out. Hovering over it the text "purchase the main game for 7 more campaigns" pops up.

I bought the standard version and add-on. If I only install the standard version, then I can play the add-on too.
If I install only the add-on without the standard version, then I can also play the standard version and the add-on.
But in the library they are separated and the playing time is counted separately.
Why this is needed is not clear. Why didn't they do it like in the sixth heroes - everything in one place?

Hey there,

It is great to hear that launching the game is giving you access to all content.

I would advise against bumping old threads to ensure that threads remain as relevant to others as possible and so if you cannot find a relevant active thread you can create a new one.

Many thanks,

I previously purchased the base game, including the lost tales campaigns. I had played through half of lost tales 2 when the trial by fire expansion went on steam sale, so I bought it. Now I can no longer access the original game, and when I launch trial by fire, my save file from lost tales 2 is missing.

I can see why people really hate this stupid launcher....
