I'd been playing for a bit and wondering why my axe-and-board morments seemed more underwhelming than I would have guessed, only to realize that I'd been fighting with a sword AND A FIST.
::sigh::
I can only imagine the Niflheim shield-users are going through trying to use the right tool for the job and having to cart about TWO SHIELDS:
NADOD NADODSSON: Hey, dude, we're only doing a quick skip over to Northumbria...no need to pack three shields for the trip.
IVARR THE HOPELESS: No, you don't understand, THIS is my Sword Shield, THIS is my Axe Shield, and THIS is my Seax Shield. Y'know...just in case I want to switch weapons.
NADOD NADODSSON: Thank Odinn and Gordon Bennett we're not allowed to use spears with a shield the way they taught us in Basic Viking Training, or we'd have TWO rows of shields to sling on the sides of the ol' Langskip. How the Hel are you going to sling that third one??
IVARR THE HOPELESS: From this modified fanny-pack. Pretty cool, huh?
NADOD NADODSSON: (shouting) Hey, can I get a new oar-mate?!? Maybe one that just dual-wields two separate pairs of sporks? Jarl? Hersir? Anyone?
