temperature
is any one else getting some extreme heat on there gpu while running this game (well extreme may be too stronge a word). l have been seeing 75 c while running this (l know that temp isnt dangerous its just hotter than l expected). l think its also worth saying that l tested my gpu against other games that are way more intessive and there heat readings are normal so it isnt any thing to do with bad thermal paste or anything,

cpu: i5.7500
gpu: xfx rx480 8gb

Try using the framerate limiter in the video settings.

On gtx970 it drills the card pretty hard, both with vsync & limiter ON as well as with vsync OFF limiter ON (both cases limited on 60fps). I get >70C constantly & card 80-90% busy.

What worked for me is to reduce source of light points to 1, reduce postprocessing and disable the option at the bottom (has to do something with water and lightining?).

Temperatures got much stable, though in demanding environments it still keeps the card around 80-something percent busy and at 71-75 degrees temp.

Try to lower "Foliage" option in video settings to Low (amount of granss and plants), in first Village it makes huge difference in CPU and GPU load. I got about 15 less CPU temperature just by turning down Foliage. But yeah GPU kinda the same 71-75 also here on Nvidia GTX 950.

Definitely something wrong with GPU usage. Like i got 65C Path of Exile and Dota 2 on high quality. Also when you minimize game GPU still loaded.

WIth MSI Afterburner you can limit GPU power by reducing maximum allowed temperature https://i.imgur.com/3wsa2GD.png first click on "Prioritize".

GTX 970, really? That's the card I've got in my development machine in the office. You really shouldn't need to disable anything on a card like that, except maybe making sure Anti-Aliasing stays on Normal (SMAA).

This is a common Unity engine problem, incidentally, but the framerate limiter usually fixes it. I've got my framerate limit set to 200 and I've had no overheating.

Try to clean your GPU. Anyway, its not big deal.

Lowering foliage is good advice. It makes quite a difference.

It was odd for me. The very first time I ran the game it was really overworking my card on the Character Creation screen of all places. But cleared up afterwards in the game itself. After that, making new characters didn't cause my card to overwork itself and its running fine now.

The problem seemed to fix itself for me, I couldn't tell you why.

You can easily notice it in the main screen after game start. GPU just burns at 80 C.

It´s the bad SSAA. Back to SMAA the GPU-Load drops from nearly 100% to 30-35% on a GTX1070.

Framerate limiter doesn´t solve high GPU load with SSAA. Got it on 60.

game resets my power options to High on its own which causes thc cpu to run hotter than necessary...Whats the deal!!!

Hi, if you're getting temperature issues:

the game as a serious optimization issue, i am playing with the minimum setting and i have a rather good video card R9 290 Tri-x, for a reason when i alt tab to write a message with the game running in the back ground the video card is going crazy, all 3 fans at full speed.

i found a solution for myself - i lowered the power limit of my gtx 660 with msi afterburner to 70% -card is not getting hotter than 65° ; but you guys should really fast work on a solution for that :(

its a great game at all -if the bugs are fixed soon :D
edit : the frame limiter does nothing

tried setting frame rate to 30 fps with all other settings on high except SSAA. running under 60C
No gameplay noticeable problems.
