On the other hand if characters are important for the story they seem survive no matter what, so what exactly is the point with that button? Is it just some kind of bloodmode on/off switch?
But this doesn't happen very often, I would've appreciate more use the non-lethal mode as well...
I don't know whether this is the case. Enemies surviving despite lethal mode might have been because they don't die instantly unless they receive a lot of damage, they first become incapacitated.
I've found a way to remember what is lethal / non lethal : Torfinn uses his bare hands and can't kill so the option is greyed out for him.
