It is when you are more experienced with the game and choices.
You probaly replace the stock NPC with your own specialised meta traits.
For now till the Developers decide to release the console commands and modding tool.
They just want to see people play the game they envisioned.
And it is a good game. just a bit too buggy at this moment. understandable with so many choices. and order of things, quest lines do break if players do the unexpected.
and since i dont recruit people who hate me and just tried to kill me i have 7 custom NPC's on my squad. (i also choose not to bring the mother along, i like to think i sent her back to take care of the rats but it didnt feel right for her to follow me after we completed what she was following me for)
and its not for meta reasons or minmaxing that i want this to be a feature. its for roleplaying reasons. it just annoys me when i see i have a hella disloyal follower or to see that annoying "agressive followers have lost moral" when i decide not to murder a child or something.
It doesn´t feel right. but still it is funny experience to see the game does support that even if I ran into some bugs.
You shouldn´t have replaced the stock NPC for the first playtrough, since they got the most dialogues lines and events. don´t worry they won´t murder you ... I think lol.
Nefja definetly won´t and it isn´t hard to get her moral to unwaivering fast.
What you can do is camp and swap out those people who would lose moral aside from Nefja and Katil in denmark. swap in people who would gain moral.
But in the end it is same like expedition conquistador. that moral system is part of the game and story events.
Just for the second playtrough you gotten more knowledgable about the story line.
You probaly would take your own tailored NPCS replacing the ones that doesn´t go into your envisioned gaming experience.
That i could not use the peaceful guy at the ribe to tell the jarl that he had been sent by skarl to attack me was the last straw for my opinion on his usefullness and quality as a character. not to include the fact that you watch him kill his old crew and dont question his loyalty or character or reasoning or even mention it.
as for the honour guy he is quite inconsistent with his view on honour making him annoying. For some reason walking head on to slaughter an entire village of people you have no beef with is honourable but slaughtering a different group of villigers you do have beef with isnt.
the christian guy as well sucks because i cant slaughter the christians without him whining. i took him along thinking id need him as a translator but everyone in britan speaks norse aparantly. Plus he doesnt state his motive for taging along with you after raiding a church and seems hella okay with it.
ive also never had the moral system come into effect and ive never had a camping event that involved other characters that wasnt a "random dude got injured while hunting" or you find a dead body and your spiritualist is being spiritual" event, asides from the shieldmaidens crow dream. so maybe my game is just bugged or something.
