Second, I currently run with;
2 sword'n'board (my PC, and Asliefr)
2 Archers (Ketill, and one I made when I had the option)
1 Healer (Røskva)
1 Spear user (Nefja)
Archery is nice, however your starting party available generally does not give a very good impression as you end up fighting shield users quite often, and with no one to hold the line it can be tough I imagine.
Once you reach Ribe, and open up for the merc's, you can make the party however you'd like though.
And in that battle they were automatically split up. So on one side i had 3 archers, 1 axemen and 1 spearmen. On the other side 1 shield dude and another archer. Always against about 10 better equiped enemies with healers and all that.
I guess i take a look at the difficulty first and then need to restart :(
But restart would mean i lose my right to refund the game. So i guess i have to think about that a bit.
You don't need to restart the game to change the difficulty, you can do it on the fly.
Playing on hardest difficulty(insane IIRC) btw.
The shield guys need to be taken care off by the axe guys. (which one at each side of homestead defense north or south)
You can hook and slash. to deal with shield people.
Or just brute force the damage with Nefja spear. don´t waste arrows on them.
They will auto block. but on insane the fights are really hard.
With the AI really playing smart with there archers and swapping range weapons.
Ok, after checking again its indeed in cause of debuffs. Got ~10% hit chance from 5 fields away thanks to demoralizing-spam for the entire map, tyrs buff and some other debuff i can't translate.
I also play an archer at the moment, on insane.
I advise playing both battles more or less the same way:
The one where the woman with the spear is standing on the bridge I won that by retreating. There are two cover slots for archers to your left you should use to mow down the enemy as they come over the bridge and if you bring your melee back behind that the enemy archers cannot really hit you easily from across the river. This forces them to come over the bridge and in doing so the position becomes much more in your favour. If you are playing an archer this will give you three in total to murder them with - keep your melee back in reserve to finish off anything that gets through.
The second one with the sword + shield guy, again in this one it's best to get him to retreat back down the streat. Reason is the enemy archers have some really good cover to the left outside town and they will casue you big problems. If you retreat they can't hit you from there, so they have to expose themselves and you can mow them down. The tricky bit is getting sword & shield guy back becasue an enemy melee will close him down. Use stun and run back scot free if it lands, take the attack of opportunity hit if it doesn't (or relaod and try again for it to work). After than hold the street half way up with your melee and mow trhem down with your (two now) archers as they come on to you down the street. Don't go out to intercept the rinforcements. Let them come to you.
TL;DR It's the same principle in both battles, get back and wait for them to come onto you where the potiion is more in your favour.
I'm playing an archer and I get the joy of a melee opponent getting 3 attacks to my one because of the "attack of opportunity".
