why should I buy a building?
how does it help me?

I remember the tutorial explaining how, but not why... did I miss something?

Does it give me extra $ or something?

It gives you a spot for your teams to stay, allowing you to respond faster to situations.

Speaking of response time. I wish you could know how much time you have left until a contract is failed so I can know whether or not I have time to make it.

Ok, so if it is only for response time, then what is the difference between having a building and just camping a team on the road somewhere?

And.. I presume the best strategy is therefore to spread out your buildings?

If you have a building, you can regenerate there as well

It may also have something to do with spreading your influence so you get militia support more often. However I don´t really know about that, since I have influence all over the city even in places I have never been, so I am not sure what actually spreads your influence.

Gives you somewhere else to drop relics and bonds too so that you don't get ambushed as easily on the long journey back to HQ.

Districts adjust their funding for you based on response time. The demands on your squads will only escalate as the game continues.

My endgame setup is usually 4-6 total bases, each with a strike team and a defense/regen squad at each base. i like being able to quickly return and regen units if I take losses, and having the base there seems to expand influence as well.
