If you have to sell a collector or premium tank to get the gold, then do not take this option. Or better, only sell the tank for gold if you really hate the tank and are sure that you will not play it again.

I'm one of the players, who do prefer positioning over HP, one of the players who do take the risks to get outta the dead positions even though I'm still reloading my X shelled magazine and facing enemies with my back.
