From my exp. I get worse team playing regular battles than ranked matches.
How well this works depends on the number of players in the queue that have a rating similar to yours. Checking a few gold league ratings battles on the NA server yesterday my teammates ratings were within ~800 of my own.
A three hour ban is usually the result of a report after a battle. Filing a ticket with attached screenshots can result in longer bans, including permanent ones.
Instead of "I play like him," play better than him. If you play like him, he looks normal. When you play as well as you can the difference between the two of you becomes obvious.
Capturing a flag early in Supremacy battles is a valid strategy. The players who capture it not only gain victory points for the capture, they continue to gain more points every second. This not only makes a victory on points more likely, it also contributes to the xp you need for masteries and some missions. Next time, if it's a Supremacy battle, help that player to capture a flag - and then go get damage points for yourself. Show them a better way of playing the game.
If you follow them and harass them there isn't one gun removed from the battle - there's two guns. You are just hurting your own team when you do that.
Help your team, don't hurt them.
