World of Tanks Blitz

World of Tanks Blitz

Good News for those with old PCs!
With these insane prices for GPUs and hardware in general, I thought I should let everyone know that you don't need to spend your hard earned money on the latest and greatest. All you need is a bit of knowledge on how to get your Windows to run lean and efficiently

Ancient hardware Specs :

Core 2 Duo 2.66ghz OC'd @ 3.2Ghz -- Usage never goes above 60-70%
(you can use a software overclock like SetFSB if you have a compatible board)
4GB Dual Channel DDR2 RAM
Geforce 210 VRAM 512MB -- Lowest spec video card -- 99% Gpu usage
7200 rpm Hard drive
Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC

In Game Settings :

Water = Medium
Object and Terrain = High
Tank Quality = High
Effects = Medium
Draw Distance = High
Fog Quality = Medium
Anisotropic Filtering = 4x (you won't notice the difference too much until you look closely)
Full Screen Anti Aliasing = Off
Frames per second = 60
Camouflage = For All
Flora = Medium
Shadows = Off
Track Traces = On
Shell Hit Marks = On
HD Textures = On

Screen resolution = 720p (1366 x 768) full screen
Its not a solid 60 fps, it can dip down into low 50s but its very playable and quite enjoyable!
The game uses about 500MB of RAM and upto 300MB of VRAM

Other resolutions tested : 1440x900, 1600x1200, 1650x1080, 1920x1080 from 30-45 fps
*Note that if you are using a monitor that is 900p or higher, you will have a dip in performance and will only be able to play at 30-40fps.

You can use MSIAfterbuner + RTSS to monitor cpu/gpu/ram usage. Suffice to say the game is VERY well optimized for old hardware.

Enjoy the game and if you have been running WoT on old hardware please feel free to share your specs.

I went to my local "insert large Electronics Store with B's in the name", spoke in Spanish and claimed I was an illegal who needed help. They gave me a brand new PC for 85% off.

Old PC + Linux + Steam works great.

My setup I used a very long time ago:
Intel core 2 duo @ 1.86GHz
GeForce 8500GT overclocked to 650MHz (core and memory)
3GB of DDR2 RAM
7200RPM HDD from 2006
50 FPS on 1680x1080 medium settings

Honestly you could run this game on any modern PC. And by "modern" I mean anything from last decade, even the cheapest laptops.

I have maxed out it on my Ryzen 5 2400G on 1920x1080 resolution and stable 60 fps and this is just ordinary integrated GPU.

On a more modern PC you don't even need a gpu. So just buy a cpu and motherboard and you're good to go :)

That's amazing, similar to this setup its better put to use than in a landfill. Still plays older games just great and save your main Gpu
