Pz. IV D
I am trying to climb the german tree towards the Tiger 1. But when i got to the tank Pz. IV D i got stuck. I keep getting overrun by enemy tanks and keep loosing games. Because of this i get very little exp after each game which will result in taking alot of time before getting to the next tier. I need some help on how to use this tank the most effective way. Its really inaccurate so i cant snipe from a distant. And its pretty weak and have a very long reload time so i will fail in close quarter against most other tanks.

well most tier 1-4s were nerfed so not sure what this one currently does. Before, i think its a low armored faster tank, not for sluggfest but for flanks and hitting weak sides. The top gun is good so thats ok, plus its ok speed.

So you'll want to get the top gun asap, forget about trying to absorb shots, armor isn't your strong point. Get flanking and speed and try and hit stuff from the sides. Either snipe from a distance or flank and hit from the sides/rear. Not sure how the current gun can handle hitting stuff like the dw2/lee, etc from the front if it has good pen.

So tank is not a slugger, its a sniper/flanker, so stay safe and protected in that tank, and don't get up front where you can be blasted easy.

thanks for the answer. The problem is i tried to use this tank to snipe with but it has terrible accurisy so many of my shots will miss even if i aim right at a tank. Therefore i will get detected without causing any damage and they will come after me which often results in me getting blown to pieces right away

thats ok, accuracy will come with time. New players won't be super accurate, you have to build your skills over time to get better with shooting, equip the tank with items that help shoot better, etc.

There isn't anything else you can do. Just keep doing it. Your goal is to learn the maps, try and find good spots to shoot from. Learn your tanks, what they can do, what they can't do. Can they peek over hills good, can they flank good, do they have strong front armor, etc. All that takes time. And if your new and learning, the best thing you can do is sit in the back and snipe, with any tank. You'll get more shots in the battle, you'll learn to start leading tanks driving, anticipate their movement.

When you get close righting you'll have to learn where weak spots on tanks are, wether to shoot them in the front ok, or hold your shot and shoot them in the side as you drive next to them.

When that light goes off, your detected 2 seconds ago, which means if that detection light goes off, you MOVE. You dont sit there going "mmm who sees me" you get behind cover so you aren't blasted. You don't sit on top of hills unless your far away and sniping and have a low chance to be detected. Put camo and items on your tank to make shooting at a distance easier.

I always suggest for new players to learn to be a sniper. The game is filled with bad players, and going up front usually means your going to die fast unless your a vet player, and even then often you will. You let the bad players go up and die, that is all they are good for.

So on your tanks put on camo, put on items that increase pen, accuracy, reload speed, and distance penetration. Snipe with every tank, even tanks with big derp guns. If you shoot 3x as much in a battle as you would fighting up front, you'll get better with aiming and shooting. Yes you aren't going to hit with every shot, even those that hit often bounce, don't pen, etc. Just work on it.

Finally, the main thing for any new player, don't jump up in tiers fast. The worst thing new players do is move up in tiers fast and have no clue what they are doing. 1000 battles a tier. Period. If your in tier 5 tanks and have 500 battles, fail. If your in tier 7 battles and have 1000 battles. Fail. Your not learning anyting, but are just being a failure for your teams.

1000 battles a tier, minimum. You better not be in a tier 6 tank with 1000 battles unless your a WOT genius and find that your amazing. lol.

The problem is that i miss with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tank even if i aim right at a tank that is not even moving. And i know that it is a miss because the voice tell me "Thats a miss" or something similar. If i wouldnt penetrate wich also happens(usually my fault though) he sais that "it didnt penetrate". However i will follow your tips and try to stay at a distant and buy new stuff whenever i can. Thats a problem aswell though because its going to take aloooong time getting all those exp points with this tank. T(h)ANK you for the tips ;)

Actually, when you miss there is no audiocue, that's how you know you missed.. ;)

Also when you get a new tank, the 75% crew (never ever get 50%, always save up the money for directly go 75), unless you are throwing money (gold) at the game for instant 100%, will noticeably impact tank performance, and you have to account for that. The green circle (your dispersion) will start later and be slower in getting smaller, and even if completely close you will have worse aim as long as your crew is not 100%.
That's what you should keep your crew xp boosters for, bringing a new tank crew up faster.

I think starting with update 5.5, all of ur new tanks are 100% crew up to tier5 ? I am assuming you are using the top gun 7.5cm. As much as I remember it, Pz IV D was more like a KV2. High damage on HE, long reload, paper armor, large profile makes it easier to hit from distances... and mostly no one needed to aim at u with care.... just spit at u and it gonna hurt u real bad. You have flat sides with low armor, skilled player could HE u easily. I checked now, they have buffed armors so much on so many tanks... so you may be able to bounce using angling/sidescraping and using elevations etc

So, first thing, better to use camo net and play like sniping TD if u cant handle close encounters but even with that, u need to use some brains or you wouldn't notice any thing lol

These equipments below are a MUST for u if u want to play this tank for a little longer: Second row, first slot (Enhanced Gun...), third row first slot (Vert. Stab) for firing on move. These two settings will make ur aim time short, so if u fire carefully, you are less likely to miss. But that does not guarentee that you will penetrate and damage (yeah, penet. and damage are handle by separate department). So know and aim the weak spots. If I remember correctly, back then Pz had very slow shell velocity. So, in my starting days, I used Supercharge (second row, second slot) but if the armor is buffed and u can use angling techniques, then go for Enhanced gun. Similarly, if due to armor buff, u can play it like a hevium (a bit heavy a bit medium) then u can go for Refined gun (but thats arguable though can still work at lower tiers). First row first colum: I dont know what first slot has to offer for Pz IV D, but if it only offers 1 or 1.x second reload advantage, then u can safely switch to second slot Calibrated shells, giving u couple points of penetration, esp for ur HE shells. But with that, u need to play with patience, watch ur spot u are firing from, keep cover (bush or a solid cover, rock/building), u need to know when u are spotted whereas no enemy tank has appeared yet. etc etc... I know, all of what I said above is collosus for u at this time but if u dont wanna suck at upper tiers and if u want to improve... YOU MUST start now... thats what tier1~4 is for in first place.

OMG i dont even know if you can mount APCR/HEAT and HE shells on Pz IV D anymore? I mean after update 5.5? hahahahah

Anyways, its a good tank in itself. If u wish to keep playing it for a while I will get it and see how much it has changed and then what are ur choices for improvement. Further, if u can play on EU or Asian server, we can toon up for battles or training rooms. What u learn in Pz IV D will immensely help u from tier5 onwards for ur heavies and TD's. Though I dont know how much of good players will be left to make the game satisfying in coming months. Good luck...
