One time I got constructive criticism about a particular map (Middleberg) which I have followed since and it helped. So it can help if it's constructive and the person recieving it is receptive.
Yeah I know that's a perfect storm.
On a final note had some 58% WR player call his team noobs because they didn't do what he wanted and he got overrun doing next to no damage. It was the team's fault he explained after the battle, didn't respond later when I suggested maybe he was playing his tank (Renault UE 57) wrong. His WR in that tank was not good.
So I didn't offer any more advice, having learned the hard way how to get decent results in that particular vehicle.
Now the thing with that is that's super selfish... you make people who maybe just had a bad day and wanted to chill in a tanking game feel bad so that you feel good..
You give the vets with great win rate, awesome character and that are ready to help the reputation of snappy bulldogs like a certain Unkindest featuring "noobs" every 5 mins..
These noobs learn mostly that
tanking = insults
when in fact I made great friends in this game and met skilled and friendly peops (I'd shout out to my clan lead but he's not on steam
I don't have a problem with people "chilling" in a tank game. Again, there is a difference between good players and bad players. Plenty of good players chill in the game. I do, i like to jump on for a hour when i have time, use up a 1 hour premium certificate, and have some fun. You can "chill" in the game and still be a decent player. Or, you can "chill" in the game and do nothing. Again, if you want to do nothing, go chill somewhere else and don't annoy your teammates.
Noobs learn mostly that ... playing bad = insults. Doing nothing = insults. Plenty of players "tank" and do well in the game. Tanking has nothing to do with good or bad playing, its a tank game, everyone tanks. Sadly most "tank" badly.
THink about it. If there is a bad player, and every time he plays, every game he is in that he does nothing, he is insulted by his teammates, how much do you think he will enjoy the game. Exactly.
In fact some of us at the official WoTBlitz forum on Wargaming's website are openly critisizing and saying something about the online nastiness and stat snobery these days.
Some people forget that they too were once noobs, or that they aren't as good as they think they are.
You learn the game and the maps by experience, you should know allready where to go on the maps, which direction. If you are new player you won't, but if you are a good player you know what and what not to do.
Plus many players don't speak english, so someone saying to "go hill" or "go right" is just speaking gibberish to such players. Most don't listen anyway if they are noobs. I think in regular WOT there were mods and such that would show your teammates and their skill status.
If you actually learn, you'll know when to take hills (if your team is faster), when to go right or left (usually you go where the most tanks are, or the higher tier tanks are). Most teams fail when they don't go the same way. 4 tanks running into 7 tanks aren't going to last long. Many teams drive off and leave slower heavier tanks behind. Many teams go the wrong way and run into heavier resistance. Its all part of learning the game.
You might have a team more of light tanks which aren't smart and they drive the wrong way into the enemy team which might have heavier tanks waiting for them. Like if your a fast team and they are a heavy team, if you go left you'll hit their heavy units because thats where they spawn, but your team of noobs light tanks go left, right into the gunfire instead of flanking right and taking out the enemy team faster tanks.
