So, 40% bad, 50% average, 60% good, 70% expert vet player.
This!
People that focus on WR, are the ones that care about WR. As SNeaky says there are other important stats. I've managed to improve from 40.63% (after 64 battles) to 54.70% (currently) but I have periods when it only goes down. You have no control over the performance of your team so getting hung up on WR is not useful. It doesn't matter what it is, if someone wants to hate on you they will say whatever your WR is (provided it is lower than theirs) sucks.
I look for the positives after each loss, did I do good damage while conserving my health, where did I rank on damage/experience on the after battle report. If those are in the top 3 (on your team) then you did not hurt your team badly. I have battles where I do most damage but we still loose (and I am talking on mediums that don't have high alpha guns). On other occassions my team can carry me but it's a win.
Maybe try a site like blitzstars which gives a nice breakdown of your stats
Survival for example suggest you don't get yourself killed early (I was advised to aim for 40%+)
Damage Ratio above 1.0 means you are doing more damage than you are recieving.
The more battles you have the more accurate the stats will be as an indication of your performance as individual battles are less significant.
So if someone has improved but is still held back from a poor WR from when they were a noob, it would show their latest skill/luck.
Someone with 60k battles and 40% win rate is a bad player, they don't have any skill and aren't good enough that they are helping average teams beat their enemies. They do nothing most games, they usually have low average damage, and they probably played bad in the game you were in, doing 0 damage or not much and there was a reason you even bothered to look up their stats.
Someone with 10k battles and 60% win rate means they are a good player, and their skill is pulling a percentage of their games into wins simply because of their skill level. The higher amount of battles and a high win rate shows even more skill. Someone with 10k battles and 60% win rate is good, someone with 20k battles and 60% is better, someone with 40k and 60% is better, you get the idea. They can constantly edge their teams into wins due to their skill alone.
win rate is important, but if you got very low hit ratio, then your win rate will be very low.
i have seen people in former patches of this game where there are people who got very low overall hit ratio and low win rate.
people who deal 0 damage or very little damage are those who has very poor aiming.
there are several times i got reported "due to inactivity" even though i dealt the most damage when i pilot my isu-152 out of everyone.
