To continue the topic of premium vs. free, I always approach games like that with golden rule "I'm not paying for anything". It is easy to start the spiral, but there is really no end to it.
I also go premium ocasionally using premium tokens, but eventually I end up playing free. I really don't understand players who invest hundreds to reach higher tiers just for the sake of it. If something is possible to obtain after many, many hours of play then this process is a part of the fun, not to mention you also learning a lot, climbing up the ladder. I know it is totally unreleated, but it reminds me of hacking pokemon up to 99 levels. What is the point? You skipping the whole fun.
It is different with premium vehicles, but I agree that there are enough of standard ones that are cool, and also you have a chance to recieve premiums as a reward, so it is ok.
The only thing that breaks an immertion for me is that sometimes on the ladder there is a model that was only a prototype or really less significant one, but still as a part of the ladder you see them in every battle, almost like they were mass produced, like A-20.
But I'm nitpicking of course: This is not a Steel Panthers game (btw, I'm sure you all know it, but just in case, I recommend it, even more since it is free!), there is hardly any realism in WoT and I'm fine with that. It is essentially a tank deathmatch, so even the basis of a game is... well... far from reality. Lately, I've encountered Kuro Mori Mine Tiger and was confused as hell, and then I realised it was a Girls und Panzer event vehicle. Simple as that, but for a tiny while I was thinking about any Tigers in Japanese service ^_^.
