The two tanks are quite a bit different.

In real life both were experimental designs that eventually resulted in the Tiger I but the VK 30.01 P was an earlier medium tank model designed by Porsche. (The models by MAN (M) and Daimler-Benz (D) are in Blitz too, with the chassis from the Henschel model shows up as the Sturer Emil chassis). The VK 36 heavy tank series replaced the VK 30’s. You can see this evolution in the strength and capabilities of the two tanks in the ones we have in Blitz.

I much prefer the VK 36.O1 H. It’s not the strongest tier 6 tech tree heavy tank, (that’s the ARL) but it can hold it’s own on the battlefield. BlitzStars shows it with a 54.69% 90 day winrate and 3,971 players while the VK 30.01 P only has a 50.14% wr and 1,385 players. Comparing the stats and performance of tier 6, the VK 36.01 H ranks towards the top while the VK 30.01 P lags behind many other tanks. I play my VK 36.01 H six times as often, it’s just stronger and more fun.
